Trump's rally in Chicago stopped due to protests

I doubt Bernie would go through this long slog of a primary only to turn around and run as an independent.___________________________________________

Not sure why you're posing that question to me. I 100% think that Bernie could run as an independent. I'm just talking hypotheticals in case he doesn't decide to do that. At the same time, I think that would split the left vote and Trump would almost certainly win. Yes Bernie would have all the support but it wouldn't be as much as Trump would have without a conservative independent running along side him. If Bernie keeps going if he loses, the US is likely fucked. Which is a real shame. I wish more Hillary supporters would just move to Bernie so he could beat her. Obviously.Free said:

Even if Bernie drops out after the DNC, he can still run as an Independent.
Yeah, has Bernie said anything about that at any time? I guess maybe that wouldn't be a good idea, but perhaps he let something slip.
But okay, if Bernie didn't do that, and there weren't other options, wouldn't you vote for Hillary over no one? If too many people don't vote or write in a third option, Trump could win by default. Wouldn't Americans want to vote strategically to make sure Trump didn't win?? It would seem illogical not to. I don't care how much a person dislikes Hillary.... no Democrat or any one else left of Mussolini could say Trump would be better.
To you and Russell - have you not been paying attention to the massive crowds and donations pouring into Bernie? If he ran as an independent after losing to Hillary he still has all that support.
I have been against Hillary since the get-go. I will be writing in a name at election time then vote for her. She and the corrupt DNC represents everything that's wrong with this country aside from Donald DrumpfPost edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. If you are going to speak in hypotheticals you should hypothetically state so.PJ_Soul said:

Dude.. 0 for 5 last night including big losses in three purple states is not momentum. You are kidding yourself. "Massive crowds and donations" has not translated to votes. In all of the swing states thus far, save Michigan, Clinton has won handily.Free said:

There isn't any reason to go through a Democratic primary if you are going to run as an independent. Also kind of a slap in the face to the large numbers of Democrats who have supported him.
I don't see Bernie doing that.___________________________________________

We're off thread topic talking about Bernie here. (Although I will say this: It's not over for Bernie!)"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Basically, tell your supporters not to listen to the negative talk, keep the donations coming in, get the vote out, and work toward your positive goal. It's actually quite amazing what can be done if enough people work hard. I'm not quitting.mrussel1 said:

There's no reason to abandon the Bernie ship at this point. Yes, winning is a long shot but that's not the point really. A few months ago nobody expected this to be a race but Bernie's ideas have resonated with a lot of Americans and that is the point. Maybe it's too soon for a Bernie Presidency but we're not far away from a like minded individual possibly winning in the future. I think the most positive outcome is the breaking down the prejudice that Bernie wants to turn us into the Soviet Union just because he is a democratic socialist. I think because of his run a lot of people on both sides have realized for the first time that our country is filled with socialist programs that benefit all of our citizens.
Edit: I guess this should have been posted in the Bernie thread.Post edited by eddiec on0 -

Did these protestors chant "Bernie Sanders" in the venue after shutting down a political opponent's right to free speech? Did the voters in five states look at that and see a glimpse of what the "revolution" may look like? Did those same voters completely reject the Sanders candidacy just four days later?
This was a bad episode in the long slog of the Bernie Sanders campaign. While it may turn out Michigan was the high water mark, Chicago may be remembered as the beginning of the end.___________________________________________

Why don't you go back to your ever predictable polls and math that you're so certain that's accurate in predicting the next president.Post edited by Free on0 -

What part is disinformation?
What part is hate?
I voted for Bernie. That doesn't mean I am incapable of being honest about the state of his campaign.
