I taught Spin for four years and loved slipping in a little PJ into my rides...my classes were very diverse so to have an "all PJ" ride may not be appealing to all, but of course it would be great for me! Those Peloton bikes seem very cool but as someone else said, expensive. If Spin is all you do then the investment is definitely worth it rather than a gym membership! Enjoy!!

I ran the numbers and while it's expensive, it makes sense in the long run. My other activities are all free- outdoor basketball, weights with my set at home, hiking, and running. Spin is incredible. I went the other morning for the first time in a few months and I couldn't believe how much I was sweating and how great I slept later that night.kimdowdell said:I taught Spin for four years and loved slipping in a little PJ into my rides...my classes were very diverse so to have an "all PJ" ride may not be appealing to all, but of course it would be great for me! I've had it for 10 days and have done 7 classes so far. I don't think it's a steep learning curve. You can go at your own pace. It's a lot of money down but I know I'll be working out more than ever plus me and my wife both quit the gym. In 3 years time we will be saving money. I ran the math. And by the way they upgraded the tablet in September so now seems like a good time to buy. I love it and highly recommend it.davidos said:

Saw this thread last spring and have been eyeing them since. I think I'm close to pulling the trigger on one. Anyone have any opinions about the accessories? I'm interested in the floor mat and shoes for sure, but know I can get them elsewhere. Thinking about just getting the big bundle since they have $100 off now. Are the shoes quality to go with? Is it best to get the extended warranty?
Also, I don't have the fastest internet - 7 mbps. I think they suggest 10 mbps. I stream netflix and other video services without much of an issue. Anyone else on the lower speed end and seen how it will work?Post edited by dstanfield80 on0 -
Definitely get the shoes. Good quality. I'd go with the bundle. I did get the extended warranty. I bought my bike just after they came out of kickstarter. I've had it almost 3 years. Ive ridden over 900 rides. Not a single technical or mechanical problem ever. Occasional minor streaming issues as they've expanded. Not regularly. If you have issues with wifi (I've heard some that have) you can hardwire the bike to your router. It's such an amazing experience. Clearly I'm hooked. Last year alone I rode over 5000 miles on a bike that goes nowhere, connected to friends around the world. Last night there was a live ride....theme was chart toppers 1990-1995. Lets just say a dissident was here. (And daughter and hunger strike) and nirvana, stp, rhcp. So gooddstanfield80 said:Saw this thread last spring and have been eyeing them since. Shoes: they're great. Well made and I can tell they will last a long time.
Mat: An absolute must. It soaks up all my sweat plus prevents creaks on the wooden floor.
Weights: Good value here. You're going to want a pair so might as well get ones you know will fit on the bike's holder.
Headphones: They sound okay but more importantly they stay in when working out. You won't use these to listen to PJ boots or other music, but you will use these during rides if you don't want sound coming from the tablet.
Heart Rate Monitor: I have not used this yet but I've read mixed reviews.
I think "the works" is worth the price.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

Ha! I live in Bend, literally across the street from a killer singletrack. That was funny you threw that out there..AAJC said:Why is spin so popular all of a sudden? Years, like 10-15 years ago my gym offered free spin classes. Now I hear the gym up the road is charging $300 for ten classes. WTF. And, I'm seeing spin studios popping up. Bizarre. Just go outside and ride a bike and hit some bumps, get out on some singletrack down in Bend, OR or Idaho and kick it. Now that's the rad shit you want.

Would you believe I still have not done the Pearl Jam/u2 ride!?!
I did however complete the Beatles, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and the Who rides. This weekend I'll do the new Bruce Springsteen ride and I think on Monday they have a Metallica ride. Out of curiosity, I went and checked bpm on several PJ tunes. All of these are in the 150 range, some a little over, a few just under. But definitely close enough to manipulate with software, even average software shouldn't jack up the audio quality too much. Anyway, check these out for your kickboxing:faithful2you said:I own two gyms that are completely class lead. Our kickboxing classes we use music that is between 150 and 165 bpm. But our strength training classes we can use any music and I have several CD's that are early 90's themed with one completely PJ...it gets requested often. I wish I had the time to get software to make faster CDs to use for our kickboxing classes because I am sick of Top 40 and R&B crap all the time.
Got Some - close to 160
See My Friend, Fixer, Habit, Big Wave, All Night, MFC, Save You, SoLaT, Brain of J is in at close to 165.
I imagine the mentality of the driving quarter notes in hip hop translates better to the class than a rockin' 4/4. But you have options for that tempo
Sent you a PM, so if you wanted some help getting a couple songs dialed in to a certain tempo, let me know. I have access to high quality software, and more importantly the experience to use it.It's amazing what you hear when you take time to listen.0
