Pearl Jam Spinning Class

So I have a Peloton bike. It is an indoor spin bike and so much more. It has a tablet attached to it and spinning classes are live streamed into the tablet on schedule thoughout the day. Additionally, all of the previously streamed classes are available "on demand" and can be ridden at any time of day in case your schedule doesn't match the live schedule. The bike displays your metrics (cadence, resistance and power/output). There is a leaderboard also on the tablet so you can see how your performance compares to everyone else riding at the same time. An amazing Facebook community has grown of Peloton riders supporting each other and encouraging each other. It's revolutionized my life. I've had the bike for almost 2 years. I'm im better shape now than 20 years ago! I've reached a level of fitness I never dreamed possible for me. Anyway, the coaches are all amazing and often take music requests. I'm sure you can guess which band I request often. PJ songs appear at random frequently. Recently my favorite instructor made a 45 min all Pearl Jam class for me! It was amazing and so much fun! There was also a 45 min Pearl Jam vs Nirvana ride and another all Pearl Jam 30 min ride. There have been many 90s Grunge rides and other themes that you all may love including weekly Rock n Roll rides, Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin and others. Any chance there are other PJ fans who are also Peloton riders? Obviously, I highly recommend this experience and gain nothing by recommending it. I just thought I'd share with you all something else that I love so much. My Peloton friends get to hear me rave on about Pearl Jam too!!

It's more than paid itself back! If you go to spinning classes in a studio each class is $20-30 (around here anyway). Plus, you can have unlimited accounts on 1 bike. My husband and all of my kids ride it too, even my 8yo son (he's a beast!). It is pricey to start though. It was my present from my husband for our 19 year anniversary.

Very cool. I love that you can compete against others and that the screen shows you the level is resistance. These omissions in my gyms class is what keeps me from going there.

It's really cool too bc all of your metrics are stored in your account so you can download and analyze your progress over time. I've seen my output increase and my average heart rate decrease indicating improved fitness.

I don't have to leave my house to do all of this.

So you pay $40 a month? That's actually not bad because I'd quit my gym. I have bowflex adjustable weights anyway and I play bball outside (for free obviously). It's just that initial cost of the bike that's high.

Yep. It's the best investment I've ever made in my health. I lift weights at home too. I only pay for yoga classes outside of my home. It's so convenient to have the bike right there to use whenever it's convenient for my schedule. Yet it's not lacking the motivational and accountability factor of joining others in a gym-like experience. The leaderboard really creates that.

I own two gyms that are completely class lead. Our kickboxing classes we use music that is between 150 and 165 bpm. But our strength training classes we can use any music and I have several CD's that are early 90's themed with one completely PJ...it gets requested often. I wish I had the time to get software to make faster CDs to use for our kickboxing classes because I am sick of Top 40 and R&B crap all the time.
    Like a word misplaced...nothing said...what a waste
  • A few days ago my daughter came home from school from her yoga phys ed class and gave me the eyeroll while saying "they played Just Breathe and I was the only one singing the words"
Her friends have not a clue what Pearl Jam is.

I'm seriously considering getting this bike over the next few months. If so, I will let you know so we can both get 2 free months through a referral, if you're interested.

Why is spin so popular all of a sudden? Years, like 10-15 years ago my gym offered free spin classes. Now I hear the gym up the road is charging $300 for ten classes. WTF. And, I'm seeing spin studios popping up. Bizarre. Just go outside and ride a bike and hit some bumps, get out on some singletrack down in Bend, OR or Idaho and kick it. Now that's the rad shit you want.

I mountain bike and spin. Living in NYC keeps me from getting out on a real bike a lot of the time because of the weather and traffic concerns.

It's really so much fun! Excellent work out too! Love the outdoor bike experience too but spin is something completely different, yet related. You should try it sometime. Just don't pick a hip hop ride. Might not like that.
