    Okay, so CNN runs a headline quoting a racist remark made by an Alt-Right spokesperson in a speech and somehow CNN is racist, rather than the guy who made the statement?

    Yes, probably they should have phrased their headline better, but this to me seems a straightforward example of people reading only headlines and not the article.

    And I saw parts of that speech. It's disgusting.
    my point was proven then...you got it!!!! Actually I don't see the issue with that headline at all because that's pretty much exactly what that guy said...so whats the problem in that headline?

    the same can be said about Trumps remarks and how they are taken out of context...man im good at this :smiley:

    pjalive21, what was your point, because it seems to have gone way over my head as well. Someone pointed out a lack of diversity within a political party, and your response was to point out a lack of diversity within a journalism business. One of those two has an obligation to empathize with, and then represent the civilians of the US fairly. I'd assume it'd be much easier to do that with an organization structure with demographics which at least somewhat resemble the demographics of the group they claim to represent.

    Edit: On second thought - until it's mandated, I'm not sure that a political party has an obligation to empathize with, and then represent the civilians of the US fairly. So long as greed is a prevalent human emotion, we cannot expect power-possessors to govern with morality unless we mandate it.

    no, you're not at all. I see no problem with that headline, but you made a vague comment before the article link which could have been taken as sarcasm or at face value. And depending on how subsequent posters respond, you respond with a "gotcha". There is no gotcha moment here. This has zero in common with things trump has actually said. not taken out of context. no spun. what he actually said. here's ONE:

    "when mexico sends it's people, they aren't sending their best. they aren't sending you, or you. they're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems with us. they're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. they're rapists. some, I assume, are good people".

    that is the DIRECT QUOTE. tell me, how:

    1) is that taken out of context, and
    2) how it isn't an inherently racist statement

    When award-winning Hispanic journalist Jorge Ramos attempted to ask Trump questions about his immigration stance during a press conference in Iowa, the presidential candidate refused to respond because he said Ramos had spoken out of turn. As Ramos attempted to finish his question, security approached him and physically removed him. Right before he was ejected from the conference, Trump told Ramos: “Go back to Univision.” On the way out a Trump supporter confronted the journalist, a U.S. citizen, and said: “You were very rude. It’s not about you. Get out of my country.” Ramos was eventually allowed back into the press conference to ask his question.

    Ramos is a US citizen.

    So today Trump has stated:

    * He won't prosecute Hillary
    * He likes Obama
    * He wants to keep an open mind to climate change
    * Disavowed the alt-right
    * Admitted he likes reading the NY Times
    * Wants to be the POTUS that brings peace to Palestine (good luck!)
    * He isn't a fan of the electoral college and prefers popular vote

    The difference is that there are extremely legitimate reasons this time around (sexual predator, lawsuits, racism, xenophobia, indecent behaviour), while there weren't last time (black man, democrat). I don't really understand how anyone can't see that.
