Petition For Online Wrigley Poster Pre-Order

Hello to all at Ten Club - staff and clubbers alike.
I'd like to suggest the reemergence of a system that I thought worked quite well when it came to buying tour posters. I live in Jacksonville, Florida and was very glad to make a cross-country trip in 2009 to see the L.A. Gibson Amphitheater shows (Nights 3 & 4) as well as San Diego. I remember that as a Ten Club member who had secured a ticket to those shows, I was given the opportunity to preorder a single copy of each show poster online, well before my trip even began. This alleviated a fair amount of anxiety at the merch stand, knowing that I had my own copy of the poster securely on its way to my house, not to mention relieving the hassle of holding on to my poster for the rest of the evening. I'm not sure what logistical hurdles this system may have posed to the Ten Club, but I thought it was highly effective for us fans.
So with that, can we please look into bringing this system back for the Wrigley and Fenway shows? I was at the '13 Wrigley show, and will cherish the memories made of my week in Chicago that year. I will not use this thread to bemoan the - how should I say? - clusterfuckery of trying to get merch at one of the pop-up trucks for that show; its a long-dead mule and I've no interest in beating it more. I really appreciate all that the Ten Club has done for its members and that it always tries to evolve and creatively adjust to the whims of what seems to be more and more and more fans each year. So Ten Club, will you please consider this option as another option for those of us who'd rather enjoy a beer with new friends in the Second City, rather than bake in the merciless sun? Thanks for listening.
-Cory P.

And having said all that, WHO'S WITH ME?

  • All of the Merch should have a 10c pre-order

  • Agreed, all merch pre order!

  • Maybe so. I'll take the baby steps if I have to though. and I also realize that the sheer number of fans for these shows dwarfs the number at an intimate venue like the Gibson. But there is a better system out there and I believe this could be a start.

its simple, they just do a pre-sale made to order type deal. Its all up for a week, you pre order it, and they ship it once it is all done. might arrive after the show, but beats waiting in lines

They should do this for all shows, but only if it's based on seniority. :)

Wish they would do this. I hate that I missed the Schuss 3 years ago. But even more I hate the idea of having to sit in line for 6 or 7 hours. This shouldn't be like it is.

I wonder if the issue is that they end up with a ton of extra merch? Think about if everyone on this board that is going to the show preorders merch for that show. The 10C also needs to have a merch stand at the show for people who didn't know about the presale and/or missed out on it. The thing is, how do they know how many posters to print to meet demand? Shirts, stickets, etc.? Unfortunately, since not everyone who is going to the show is going to know about preordering merch then the 10C are likely to be stuck with either too much or too little in the end. I think if they were going to do something like this it would have to, unfortunately, be for people who won tickets through 10C for that specific show so they have a better idea of how many ticketholders already bought merch. Which in turn is going to infuriate a lot of people who want posters/merch for shows they aren't going to.

That's not saying I wouldn't love to be able to preorder merch, I would absolutely love to. Hell, I'm a web developer and I would volunteer my time to set something up for them to get this done, but I think there are too many other factors to consider and maybe based on previous experience that's why they aren't doing it.

Even if it's limited to just one poster and one tee to make things easier on 10C, would still be much appreciated.

Also how about a petition to have only 1 poster made for Night 1 & 1 poster made for Night 2? Instead of 4+ gig posters per night.

I agree with this idea. Don't need each show-specific poster for sale, but one for the Wrigley shows (or Fenway, MSG) would be nice. And have show-specific ones available at the stands as usual.

Kinda like Lollapalooza '07, there's the festival poster and they had a special Pearl Jam edition for the day they played.

I would LOVE to see this come back like they did I think on the 09' tour for posters at least. I had a personal conversation with Tim B. at a show in Europe a couple years ago and asked him about this and he rolled his eyes and said it was a logistical nightmare and made it sound like it would be very doubtful we see that again sadly.

    Signed.

I experienced this for Calgary 2009. It was a GA festival show and it was brilliant not having to carry around a poster for the whole show. What are the options for Wrigley.. spend a whole day at a merch truck and maybe miss out, buy it inside and hope it survives GA, or order it online and have it come safe and sound to the house? :)
  • This is a great idea. I hate holding our posters through the show.

Simple, they the pre-order to how many order then add what they would have normally produced on top. So if they were going to produce 200 posters to begin with, now you add the pre-order. Or look at how many pre-orders you have vs seats and make a guess for how many extra to produce.

I agree, just like the EV chicago show in 2008 that munk one did.

This is a great idea. I hate holding our posters through the show.

I hate that too, but I saw a guy a while back with a hard plastic tube slung over his shoulder at a show and looked it up online. Check out Blick Art Materials. They have colored plastic tubes with shoulder straps. I took mine to Bogota and it worked great. Although, with all the warnings about pickpockets in Bogota I slung mine across my chest, but I put three posters inside (not a flipper, picked up two for a 10c member who helped me with tix) and my tickets. Was not inconvenient at all.
