Why is it that change so often is mostly supported by the young?

    Man i love Carlin.
The college tuition thing always bothers me cuz like cuny for example used to be free until the mid seventies and it was a much better education back then, making there was more opportunities for graduates than there is now.

I read something about this a while ago and I think it was something to do with population demographics. As in there's not only more baby boomers in power making the decisions, but more if of them in general. Also, they're the first generation to be living longer, post retirement. So the funding that used to be adequate to provide for the young has to stretch to cover the costs of the old in cases of social security, Medicare. Etc. So simply that there's more of them, with more needs than their processors, fighting for their piece of the pie even if it's at the expense of their own kids. Which becomes more complicated by the fact that they're used to having their needs addressed (such as in the example of free, meaningful education in the sixties).

I don't like the idea of blaming it all on boomers though. There's enough blame to put on gen x and y for not fighting the things that hurt the social welfare systems as well. So that now the millennial are crying out for a life raft cuz they certainly are drowning.

um actually, the certificates are NOT free anymore. It's $50 per now. You can still get the lessons and stuff for free but you no longer anything stating that you finished/passed/completed the course.
Trust me I'm kicking myself over that one.

$50 to say you completed education?
Seems like a steal to me.

it's not a completed education. It's a certificate for a specific course. It's peer reviewed you don't get a grade and it doesn't count toward a degree. It used to be called a Certificate of Course Completion but I don't know if they still call it that.
