Provided tickets aren't overwhelmingly pricey I'll try for Toronto. One of my favourite bands but I have to say, I saw them last summer and didn't think they were anything special live. But Jimmy is my favourite drummer so I can't just pass up another chance to see him

Yes with jimmy back it has to be much better. Liz phair is also a plus although I haven't heard or seen her in years. I'm going to scoop some Chicago tix

  • Jimmy played in the summer - he was the only redeeming part of it. Billy has the stage presence of a pizza

Glad to hear Jimmy's still on board, does this mean Billy's going to finally finish the Teargarden project? (So much for a song a week for free until the project was completed...it's been 7 years already, lol!)

Billy can still bring it..and I'm glad he's doing a little acoustic..he has never been one for much stage banter which is fine with me

I may have missed something, lol. As far as I know the last release was Monuments To An Elegy, which was supposed to be followed by Day For Night (a title that Billy's already thrown out, lol). The entire "cycle" was supposed to be 44 songs, I think there's still 12 or so to go, lol.

I believe it was some acoustic and some electric last year. And a number of rare songs thrown in. Even a few songs from Zwan and his solo album.

I'll go if tix here in Austin are around $40-$50 bucks. Anymore than that and they aren't worth it, plain and simple.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

Ticket prices aren't bad at all. Range from $35 to $75 at the Tower show in Philly. Just got two in the orchestra for $50 a piece. Artist code is ELECTRO if anyone wanted to get in on the presale.
  • Yeah you're right. Toronto is not showing up on ticketmaster strangely

I saw them in the 90's and it honestly was one of the worst concerts I've ever seen. They sounded horrible and I was super bummed. They were one of my favorite bands at the time and it was such a letdown.

the next album, which was going to be, but no longer, titled Day For Night, concludes the Teargarden Project.
This is tour is part electric, part acoustic.
Why the fuck does he go by Reverend Billy Corgan now?
I have always loved his music, but his reply to the critics response to Monuments made me hate the guy even more:

The lukewarm response to Monuments to an Elegy caused Corgan to change his plans for Day for Night. The critic's reviews of Monuments to an Elegy, which holds a rating of 70/100 at Metacritic based on 31 reviews,[46] were criticized by Corgan for being "middling, muddling" reviews and not offering a "fair" evaluation of the album, while also admitting he didn't even read any of the reviews.[47] Corgan said: "I thought for sure I would get really strong reviews for our new album [Monuments to an Elegy], based on all the feedback I was getting. But I'm getting the same reviews I got back in the day, these kind of middling, muddling reviews that just won't fucking say: 'This is a fucking brilliant album from a brilliant artist,'" and also elaborated that, "It's not a three-star fucking record. Nobody believes it's a three-star record. Nobody! OK, these people obviously did, so maybe I shouldn't be so absolute. But I've been in this business for 25 years and there is nobody in it who believes this is a three-star record. Nobody!"[47] The original plan was for Monuments To An Elegy to be a pop/rock album and then be followed by an experimental "weird, arty" album, Day For Night.[48] However, the response to Monuments To An Elegy caused him to re-evaluate the Day For Night demos and decided that, "The Smashing Pumpkins shouldn't be an arty band anymore," and elaborated, "Monuments is me solving a problem of how to get The Smashing Pumpkins back into the mainstream. I had to solve that problem before I can solve problem two, which is where Day For Night comes in. That's why I'd thought 'I'll do the thing I should do, then I’ll do the thing I want to do.' But now what I want to do is kick people out of the way."[48] Corgan later revealed that the follow up to Monuments to an Elegy would no longer to be titled Day for Night.[49]

all he cares about is sales and peer respect, his own legacy, and relevance in the history of alternative rock. it's so superficial it's like he's a pop star.
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

With so many good shows coming to the Boston area and this PJ tour, I can't justify paying to see them for the second time in a year. Shocked they're coming back this early after the turnout at Blue Hills.
