i know someone who joined 2 weeks ago and got 535xxx, been a real slow 2 years
No US tour last year, so not a lot of new members.
The real problem with the lottery is that scalpers can join just for the tour and have the same chance at getting tickets as long time members.

This is true, but the scalpers would still have to go through a lot of effort to acquire those tickets. It's not like they can just download them or have them delivered to their houses.
I can see this maybe being worth doing in places like NY, Philly, Chicago, Seattle, etc. where the band plays reasonably often, though.

The scalpers are going to be working the outside of the venue anyway, so they put in for 10C tix (most likely strictly for GA), and if they score, they pick them up day of show and either hand them off to a customer they've already made a deal with or sell them on the street the old fashioned way.

Was 143xxx when i first joined in '95, then let it lapse until '98 so now 166xxx. I haven't bought tickets in a while since they don't come near me very often so who knows what kind of seats I'd get now-a-days.

190xxx joined in 1999 I think after seeing my first show in Barrie in 1998 I decided I should get in this club so I can see them more often as I was simply astounded by that show and energy. Also think my first Ten Club show in Toronto at ACC in 2001 (I think) I got row 2 and did not realize I had won a lottery just couldn't believe I could get that good of seats by joining the Club on my first show. ;-) Was special.
There wasn't a lottery system back then. 10C tickets were divided into 3 blocks and members received tickets on a first come, first served basis within their block. The earlier you got there the closer your seats were within your block.
Oh, and it was '00 not '01 - probably my 2nd fave Toronto show after the 1st '11 Toronto show. At the '00 Toronto show we were front row directly in front of Mike, the person next to me requested Sleight of Hand and was rewarded both with the song and Mike's whammy bar when it came off.
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

I've noticed the #'s jump dramatically during the 2006 tour. Wish I would have joined months earlier.
I saw Borgata N2 & Philly in October 2005 but didn't join the 10C until February. I don't think my number would have been much different, but unless I didn't know about the club back then, Idk why I didn't join earlier.

I was a lurker for about 2 years before joining (because I couldnt go to a show during that time). Big mistake on my part for not just joining and spending the $40.
I would be curious to know how much my member # might jump up if the Ten Club would update each year and eliminate the lapsed or non renewed member numbers. I would guess that at least a handful of people, if not more actually, each year forget to update or renew & get sent to the back of the line.

Or there was a lot of turnover. After the binaural tour (the first tour with seat location seniority) the attrition rate dropped to a crawl. My number is 164xxx and my seats actually got worse with every subsequent tour (further and further back from the stage). Since we all held onto our memberships I don't think it mattered if people signed up in 03, 05, 07, 08, etc... Their seats were always behind ours. I think it was less important for these people to renew on an ongoing basis. Signed up before a tour, get tickets, let it expire. You were never going to accumulate seniority so why pay every year? I remember on the 00/03 tours someone made a web page where you put your 10c number and seat location. My 164xxx number always seemed to be about 1/3rd down the seniority list.
313XXX Joined September 2003 Had great side seats in Manchester UK - 4th Row. Same Year (2009) I was in Row Z side stage for London the next night. Both great. Mostly after that it's been GA in Europe..
164xxx -joined in late 95, but was one of the first to join in 1993 -had a crazy low number but stupid college kid in me let it lapse! regretted it for years! back in the days of sending the CHECK IN. hehe
The former website used to have the active, paid membership total visible before they revamped the membership page with the latest interface. I do remember seeing it where they showed which groups you were in, but I don't remember the total. It surprised me at the time how low the paid membership was, not even in the six digits.
There are many, many more people who are signed up for free accounts with no member benefits. I think that's where the hundreds of thousands come in. I had a free account for a long time before I started paying. I had to register to buy merchandise.
I don't know why they yanked all that information with the upgrade.
Anyhow, I have no idea what my actual member number is. There is never any reason for me to know it. Who cares where I am in a fan club pecking order?

I always laugh that people hide their last three numbers like it's their social security number. I'm 218178. I rejoined in 2000 after lapsing from my original membership in 1994.
Couldn't agree more i have no clue why they always write it that way. I'm XXX329 btw, joined in 1999
