What advice can you offer for buying tickets to multiple shows?

I find it hard to believe that with the small number of GA tickets they get, that the percent to any GA show at the end of the week, isn't 0%. Also, that when they do the "first round of first choice" for GA, they don't all go. I've seen people get a GA as their 5th pick. it's almost as if they do a limited number of picks like 500 at a time and then go to the 2nd picks (although the website doesn't say this). I don't see how someone can get GA on a 5th or 8th pick. they keep ya guessing.
