You are right though. I think I remember reading that. Let me substitute Three Doors Down/Whoever sang that Solja Boy song for Nickelback0 -

I saw this CD in a Walgreens in Carol Stream, IL right by where I work. I didn't pick it up. At this point the song is worthless. Thanks cubbies. Next year!"hear my name, take a good look, this could be the day."0

I'm sure this has probably been covered already, but i haven't been around much lately and i'm too lazy to research it.....Is there a B-side or just the Cubs song?0
-
The Sports Authority version has some Into the Wild demos, the Best Buy version has both versions of the Cubs song, and the Walgreens version has Hurt from Chicago.doog wrote:I'm sure this has probably been covered already, but i haven't been around much lately and i'm too lazy to research it.....Is there a B-side or just the Cubs song?

I am not a diehard Cubbies fan, but I disagree with you on this. The song, by design, is partially meant to pay homage to Chicago Cubs history. Not just the best parts, but the unfortunate parts too. This means acknowledging the lack of playoff appearances over the past 100 years, and the lack of success when they actually have made the playoffs. Hence, the chorus "Someday we'll go all the way."
The song also makes mention of Cubs diehards as "not fairweather, but foul weather fans", which I think anyone who is even slightly knowledgeable about baseball can confirm is true. The Wrigley attendance, the merchandise sales, and the almost unexplainably large fanbase indicate that loads of people continue to support the team despite a consistent unsuccessful history.
So to answer your question, I think that, at least, most true Cubs fans would want this song. That being said, I do understand that the song isn't meant for everybody. I also understand that even some of the most loyal Cubs fans probably aren't anxious to hear it right after a disappointing end to a promising season.
I still think that people will want this song though, and not because it's just another piece of Cubbies memorabilia. I've read other posts where people have said that the song should have been called "Someday We Won't Go All The Way", but they just don't get it. The song wasn't meant to be a prediction of immediate victory like the Chicago Bears "Superbowl Shuffle", or even "Go Cubs Go". Rather, it seems like an honest attempt to capture what it means to truly be a fan of the team.0
