^^^Damn dude! Sorry to hear that!
Maybe this will help- in 2003 J Mascis' house and studio burned down. When asked how loosing everything affected him he said, "It's just stuff. There's always more stuff."
Heaven forbid that should ever happen to me but if it does I will try to remember that thought!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
Honestly, the "just stuff" comment...maybe it's accurate when coming from someone who I assume is fairly well-off...but if I lost my HOME?
Nah, not just stuff. Radical change of life to go through that.
And it made me think of the day after my dad died. I went to work for whatever reason, I guess to distract myself for a couple hours. The chick with whom I shared my office at the time offered condolences in the form of "damn, I don't know what I'd do if I lost my dad. I'd freak out."
Yeah, thanks for offering that up while I was freaking out myself. Sometime people just have no idea.
And most of us don't have studios.
*requisite disclaimer! - love Carlin's take on "stuff".0 -
J probably lost more than "just stuff". He lost his recording studio AND home. I'm assuming he lost tapes, saved work, songs, etc. I have no idea how much money J has but money and things are nothing compared to one's creative output. What I admire and hope I could muster the strength to have is his attitude. He and his family and his beloved dog lived. Right priorities that!hedonist said:Honestly, the "just stuff" comment...maybe it's accurate when coming from someone who I assume is fairly well-off...but if I lost my HOME?

Sorry my post didn't work for you. I thought it was being empathetic.
If not, Jason, my sincerest apologies. Loss of any kind is difficult. I hope you know I do not make light of it."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
Not a matter of anything working for me, B. Not what I'm here for. I know your heart's in the right place, think / hope mine is too, and was speaking from there. I know you dig D Jr. and was acknowledging that there's a difference between those who can financially pick up the pieces and the average Joe (or Jason) who might have a tougher time with that.
(if only creative output would pay our bills)0 -
Believe me, I understand picking up the pieces. In my 40's I lost everything except my van and the things I could carry in it. It was a long road back to having a stationary home. And I surely did not do that on creative output, haha!hedonist said:Not a matter of anything working for me, B. Not what I'm here for. Well, I did really come to an understanding that I was hauling around a lot of stuff as I was filling several 40 yard dumpsters with my ruination. The experience has completely changed my spending outlook (no more PJ poster free for alls!).brianlux said:^^^Damn dude! Sorry to hear that!

I wouldn't wish the experience upon my worst enemy (that doesn't play for the Patriots). Thankfully I had friends and family around because losing everything will fuck your shit up for a while.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -

Good to hear you have a solid support group around you, Jason. The few people that stuck by me in may darkest of times were what kept me going. Good friends and close family are invaluable!Jason P said:

Now that's a Low Blow.....Personally for me the past 5 days have been some of the best days of my life. My CUB's winning the World Series celebrating with many of the players and a Man who will try to Make America Great again. Time to play Hard to Imagine again for the 100th time this week. Nothing left to do but Smile, Smile, SmileWobbie said:cubs winning the WS was another low point.

The cubs winning the world series is probably the greatest thing that's ever happened in this country. Well, since 1908.will myself to find a home, a home within myself

In my opinion the minute the biggest Fraud this country has ever experienced who took office 8 years ago. Finally the Deplorable's of America decided it's time for a reality check and said NO MORE DUMMIES. And it feels Fucking Great.Go Beavers said:

So to clarify, the country was great when we just started in to the second worst economic disaster of our country's history and was in the middle of an unjust war in Iraq? Sure, no more dummies says the trump supporter.muskydan said:

no one wants Trump to fail, because if he does, so does your country. But I find it really odd how you are all celebrating and gloating like children when he hasn't even been sworn in yet.
if he's a disaster, who will you blame? you've got no one left. your entire government is red. if it's fucked in 4 years, you've got no one to blame but your party. but I'm sure it will still somehow be obama's fault.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0 -
This is why I wish Trump and his cabinet well. They have complete control of the government in every aspect and if things don't go well they will have to look themselves in the mirror then say this was on us. Also the country is in far better shape than it was in 2008s horrible recession. So I wish them well make ALL the CHANGES you want I just hope it all works out for them and the rest of the country.HughFreakingDillon said:
