No Code for me, too. It's not my favorite album content wise but the presentation is incredible. It blossoms out of my speakers and the guitars on Red Mosquito just seem to hover right in front of me.

yield towers above most - a handful of the songs are laid-back and mellow.

Can't believe selftitled got votes. For a while it was actually a widely used example of brickwalling on a few audiophile forums

i love Ten for how it was mastered. The 80s production fits the anthems on it. Honestly VS shouldve been my pick. Great dynamics. Great balance on the tracks for each song. Both CDs sound great

Love no code and yield the most but I stepped out of the box and chose vitalogy. It's the last of the first big 3 and the rawness is still there but not overproduced or canned. Great studio sound, a lot of the tracks I can envision myself sitting in the studio during satans bed and last exit. Made of tracks that were built on the road and performed live before they were laid down in the studio so it has that stadium feel too. All in all great sound to me.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

    Binaural
Love the drums-in-a-room sound on all of Binaural, Light Years and Parting Ways especially. The whole record is a balance between atmospherics (all of Slight of Hand, the background vocals on Rival) or trying to hold on for dear life (Insignificance, God's Dice and Grievance)

    Yield is a close second.

Agree. But on Vinyl I tend to go No Code, then Binaural.

Something about the drums on Not For You. I kind of like how Vitalogy sounds.

    Yield
I always thought Yield sounded so thick and full. No Code sounds great but can be a little thin and airy. I always felt like they made a conscious effort to produce a beefier album with Yield. Jack's drums sound amazing, Stone and Mike fill out the speakers much more than they do on No Code, and Ed sounds amazing. Jeff is more in the forefront too.

I love how No Code sounds, but I would love to hear it reproduced with the same production as Yield.

    Riot Act
Riot Act because it`s the last studio album I listened to on cd I think back in the day
  • Id probably say Binaural but just because of the way it was recorded. I'm probably in a minority here (with all the vinyl and flac fans) but if I'm honest, sound quality isn't really a big thing for me, its just about the content.
  • They all sound great!

Just powerful and brilliantly produced as always by Brendan o' Brian ....shows a band together after the largely eddie written no code, which is great too...but from brain of j , faithful and onwards it's IMO there best sounding, lyrically spiritually connecting and musically full and emotive. Cranking it out now... Still sounds as fresh when encountered all those years ago......

Avocado sounds horrible, and as it's the last good album the band put out in my opinion, i think it's worthy of a remaster at some point. Would love to hear some of those songs properly produced.

I voted for yield by the way.

    Then Binaural.
