Barclays Show in May

CROJAM95CROJAM95 Posts: 10,201
Was at the Islander/Ranger game other night @ Barclays. My boss has season tix 3 rows off center ice. We got some passes after 1st intermission to meet Islander Greats Mike Bossy & Clark Gillies in the Billboard Lounge. Was awesome

My bosses account rep was there kissing his ass for a renewal of season tix next year..... Barclays is having all kinds of trouble with selling tix. Islanders move to Brooklyn isn't going so well.

So I flat out asked about PJ shows in the spring.... He said May for sure. He said 2 shows, he forgot the dates but he says it's happening.

I'm sure this has been discussed here, just passing some news along.

    It was a great game
All you can eat with those tix

These new arenas have stepped their game up with food choices

No more dirty water dogs ( even though tasty when hammered)

Gourmet fish tacos, filet mignon samwiches etc

sux for Islanders... They are a good product, they should get better support

Fuckin hipsters need to wake up

Nets on the other hand .... Sorry bunch who don't have a draft pick until like 2020 or some shit

    That I get

It's cool , there are photos of Vedder all over the place

Nets were fun for the first two years. Now it's pretty bad but I was third row (first time floor seats) for their best game of the season so far, revenge against the Celtics.

Isles I was their opening night and two other times and I had a blast each time.

Barclays will pick up steam the next few years. It's a slow process in a building area.

My Boss had Nets season tix... Switched to Isles. He gives majority away to clients but we go to a handful of games.

Every so often he has to list them on secondary sites to recoup a few dollars

He got killed with Nets & Isles.... No market. Unless it's Knicks or Rangers.... He can't even get FACE back.... And these are all you can eat n drink.

    That's nuts

IMO the Islanders at Barclays isnt going to get fixed. Maybe if they go on some consecutive playoff runs they can get a bump for a few years.

The Islanders were a Long Island institution. I dont think a ton of their fans are making the trip.... or are interested in doing so. The fanbase is already a bit diminished due to a generational failure. Not one playoff series win since they upset the Penguins in 1993.

So then you have this kind of 'quaint' franchise in Brooklyn. It isnt appealing to hipsters.

IMO at some point they are going to re-brand the team under the guise of "saving them". Theyll be the "Brooklyn _________" and wear black and white/silver. Its going to be a shame.

New ownership takes over July 1. They may be reviewing these issues now. And yes, that would be horribly sad!

this entire NYC thing is weird. I still think one venue has hold dates that were very recently cancelled or will be cancelled ASAP.

I'm not. Although the team is coming off their best season in recent history, Barclays is not a hockey arena. Rink isn't even centered in the arena. The jumbotron is mostly in the offensive zone, and there are multiple sections with obstructed views. (Most notably the section in the balcony behind the defensive zone where you can't even see the goal) Not to mention the random fucking car in the corner.

The only way the isles can fix their attendance is to do some major renovations to a (practically) brand new arena.

And for the record, LETS GO RANGERS!

    Barclays sucks
  • I traveled to Barclays last Pj show. Although I enjoyed the show I wasn't blown away with the arena. Everywhere I went in NYC I was just in awe and blown away. Barclays on the other hand just didn't do it for me!
