My wife is a big fan of Adele but I honestly don't see what all the hysteria is about. She's funny in interviews because it's obvious she doesn't give a shit and won't play the game. That part is quite refreshing these days.

She's got a good voice, but it's nothing unique and her songs aren't anything that hasn't been heard before. I liked Rolling In The Deep and Skyfall, but that stalker song was the most overplayed and overhyped song of the year when it came out

That's where I am. I especially don't understand the hype for the new song "Hello". It's not very interesting. Yes, her voice sounds good, but it's not a groundbreaking song or anything. It's a pretty average pop song IMO. But so many people went absolutely ballistic over it. But hey, what do I know? If that song blew millions of people away, then great. There was a spike in world positivity that day, lol.

Name someone who has a better voice than her?
I'd say KT Tunstall and Corinne Bailey Rae (maybe Joss Stone) have better voices, but it's all personal opinion isn't it? I could say PJ Harvey, Leila Moss or Alison Mosshart but they're not in the same genre so it wouldn't be a fair comparison.

Seeing KT Tunstall singing 'Throw Me A Rope' as a solo encore in a sweaty club in Cardiff (that instantly fell completely silent) 10 years ago remains one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen at a gig.

Anyway, like I said, Adele has a good voice, I just don't see it as anything unique. Just an opinion.

I hear ya. To me, she's nothing too unique either but she's the cream of the crop at what she does. Especially live, I'm shocked she can hit those notes which seems like such ease.

I'm not a fan of hers but I don't hate her because she's a breath of fresh air compared to the Radio Disney crap out there. She's bringing substance back to pop music and I can't complain about that. I have yet to hear Hello, though, since I avoid radio mostly and just listen to what I want on Spotify. I'm sure it will pop up on some movie trailer or when I'm with someone in a car listening to the radio. With a few exceptions like Alicia Keys, Adele, Bruno (inconsistent, though) and my favorite, Florence, today's pop is immature in the worst way.
