I've never heard a better singer, so I will go talent. She's not over the top poppy, which brings fans of other genres in. She's always seemed really cool so I'm happy for her success.

Oh, and she didn't allow her music to be streamed, which had to help and might become more of the norm for bigger artists.

She's a good singer. Her music doesn't really do anything for me. It's nice enough, but I don't spend my time listening to it because it just doesn't reach my emotions the way I want my music to, and isn't to my taste. She's really talented though. I guess the marketing is big too, but really I think her talent (and the fact that her music appeals to a huge number of people) is mainly responsible for her success. The marketing wouldn't mean shit if she wasn't good (which isn't always the case, but for her kind of style it is).

Not a fan, but gotta repect the numbers.
Official: Adele Breaks Single-Week U.S. Album Sales Record
    Billboard - November 24, 2015

It’s confirmed. Adele’s 25 has broken the single-week U.S. album sales record, according to Nielsen Music.

After processing the first sales reports from Monday, Nov. 23, the album has already sold at least 2,433,000 in pure album sales in slightly more than three days. That sum beats the single-week record for an album since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991, set by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, when it debuted with 2,416,000 in the week ending March 26, 2000.

Nielsen Music began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S. and thus, it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week.

25 was released on Nov. 20 through XL/Columbia Records. Yesterday (Nov. 23), Nielsen reported that 25 had sold at least 2.3 million copies in its first three days of release (through Nov. 22).
With more than three days left in the sales tracking week (as it ends at the close of business on Thursday, Nov. 26), the sales figure for 25 will grow larger. Presently, industry forecasters suggest the album could finish the week with 2.9 million sold. Billboard is scheduled to report 25's debut week sales on Sunday, Nov. 29, once Nielsen has finished processing its weekly data.

    Talent.

I didn't even know that she had a new album coming out. I just saw that she was on SNL as well as one of her records* displayed at the record store, so I figured it out that way.

(*All of her covers look the same, but I guess it was the new one.)

She's talented. I bought the album, vinyl of course. Haven't got a chance to hear it yet. My daughter really likes her, and the last album was good (I try to connect where I can with my daughter). I hear this one sounds much similar to her last album (I was hoping she would change it up). I was disappointed to see that there was no download inside the record. Ah well, my daughter will have to get comfortable listening to it on vinyl I guess.

When there is no download with a new record, I feel comfortable just converting every song on the album from youtube to mp3. It's not reasonable to expect people to spend $30+ on a record and still pay more for the digital version.
But alternately, if you don't want to convert via youtube for some reason, you could always just invest in a spare record player with USB. You can get them cheap. You wouldn't want to use one to listen to albums on IMO, but it could be worth it just for converting the audio to digital.

I believe it also broke records for "Most social media posts by women, picturing the album and a glass of wine" over the weekend.

Facetiousness aside, I would definitely go with talent. Her music doesn't really do anything for me, but you can't deny she has the pipes and she's also a multi-instrumentalist.

I used one of them before and unfortunately the mp3s came out very bad-unlistenable actually.

I am going to target to get the CD - it comes with 3 bonus tracks - she could sing the phonebook and I would listen - her voice is other-worldly.

My best friend and I saw her at the "Other Tent" at Bonnaroo 2008 (the year PJ played) in the early afternoon on Friday. We just checked her out on a whim, based on the catalog description of her in the festival program--such a pleasant surprise! She sounded great, and was funny and charming between songs. I've loved seeing all her success in the years since. Hope to see her on tour somewhere next year (my wife is a big fan, and is dying to see her).

And I think, given her superstar status at this point, she's the biggest star I ever saw live before they got famous. So that answers that trivia question for all my friends.

Oh really? Well then never mind about that idea. Stick with youtube conversion sites. They're awesome.

Yeah thanks, I'll you-tube convert it, and won't feel one bit bad about it either. I support the artists, but I don't double support them.
