Mike McCready was interviewed for the documentary Enormous: The Gorge Story, which follows the origin behind the iconic Washington State venue, the Gorge Amphitheatre.
In case you weren’t able to make it to the theater, the film is now available for streaming on digital platforms!
Just streamed it, very good. Little on the short side. It must have been cool to go to the winery and watch shows back in the day. So weird seeing in the end credits the name "Eddie Jerome Vedder." Guess I didn't know that was his middle name or forgot about it. Overall worth a watch.
"I
gave up on music," McCready said. "It was a long struggle being in
bands. It was fun, but it wasn't really happening. I was kind of lost.
After seeing him play here (Vaughan), that was an amazing kind of
spiritual change for me. The next day, I had to play guitar again.
Seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan on the Gorge put me back on the path of
music."
Saw PJ at the Gorge Sept 1st, 2005. Such an amazing venue. They advertised the concert as an evening with Pearl Jam, so naturally no opening act. As the band took the stage the sun was beginning to set over the Columbia River. With a breath taking view - the music was extradinary. We were on the grass in the first few rows, thanks to 10c tickets!
My ex and I pulled our camp trailer there where we met up with another couple. The camping experience was a highlight of the trip, as the party continued well after the concert ended.
Thanks for reviving this post and many great memories.
