Pictures are coming. Slightly disappointed. The poster arrived with a few noticeable creases along the right side. Should frame out for the most part, but I definitely couldn't sell this as mint if I wanted to. Another strike against Ames in my book lately...

I have a chrome on the way also and I'm kind of expecting some handling creases like your poster has - hard to avoid with this type of metallic paper I think.
And that's what always kills me when I see people "pre-selling" this type of poster on eBay and grading the poster as "Mint", sight unseen.
Inevitably, the seller also offers "no returns".
Technically, a buyer could return the poster since it doesn't match the description (eBay will back them up) and I wish more buyers would push back against bogus "Mint" grading.
    Ahhh...I feel better now. Thanks!
  • This is definitely a "condition sensitive" poster.

I was lucky enough to have no flaws with mine.

And another member received one without a number and without an extra print... so seems like some are in for a random surprise!

Maybe the original handful receive the bonus print?

Edit: Only the extra print is numbered. The Gold transformer itself is NOT numbered.

So maybe the extra print is only going to "a handful"?

I'm guessing they decided to do 180 extra prints of an earlier design to reward those who stuck it out and didn't cancel and either shipped them randomly or to the first 180 that bought the gold.

Too bad they couldn't do it for everyone who kept the gold, but I'm guessing it was a cost issue.

Great move by them, for all the complaining I've heard people do about Ames, my interactions with them have always been top notch.

Funny thing is I must be still on the email list as I just received that email...cause I cancelled my order.
If they send me one by mistake, I will donate it to Dave's OYR next raffle.

  • Both editions look great. Regardless of the edition size, number, no number, whatever...I like the gold more. I think it looks great. I'm really glad these are mirror foils. Years from now nobody is going to care about the stupid drama that surrounded this poster. Congrats to those that hung in.

Got to say gold looks much better from people's pictures than the original image Ames used. I'm sure all who received chrome or gold are really happy!

I love my chrome, it came with some very minor scratches on the boarder but I am not going to return it, I figure it's a gamble and you could be returning several prints if you are looking for true mint.
