Is anyone else surprised that they would be doing a tour like this without new music to support? I figured the LB tour (as far as the US was concerned) was over with last year's Midwest run. So I was expecting them to be working on a new album in 2016 and not getting a US tour again til 2017.

Yep, I'm surprised too. Not hating, just saying people around here like to jump into stuff :)

They did tour in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, and arguably 2011 & 2012 without an album to support them.

I always thought of 2004 and 2005 as the lost dogs tour... which is probably why they were great tours

I would take a tour over an album any time. I feel like we've heard everything sonically we can hear from the band at this point. Don't get me wrong, I would be excited for a new record but the songs don't stay with me as long as they did with earlier albums.

Fair enough, on both accounts. I spent far more than $2k on a trip to Europe this summer for holidays, so it's all about where my priorities lie these days...

I think my biggest issue is that I don't get enough vacation to accommodate doing stuff like this. 15 days annual leave is just not enough.

15 days annual leave is shocking! There is no way I could do that.
The apprentices in my office get 21 days minimum (plus the public holidays)
    2009 - Manchester. 2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London, Berlin, Arras, Werchter. 2011 - PJ20 i & ii, Montreal, Toronto i & ii, Ottawa, Hamilton.
    2012 - Manchester i & ii, Berlin i & ii, Stockholm. 2014 - Amsterdam i & ii, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin, Leeds, Milton Keynes.
    2016 - Boston Fenway i & ii, 2018 - Amsterdam i & ii, Pinkpop, London i & ii, Padova, Krakow, Barcelona, Seattle i & ii.

Lol, Merica! Yeah vacation days are few and far between here. I used to get 14 but I haven't gotten any for about 8 or 9 years now

something fun to do around these rumor times is to check ticketmaster, and any of the other sites that may sell tickets, i forget who does it for hartford and philly, and just search pj, sometimes someone in the department puts the info on too early, and then you know its all coming soon. theyll take it off, but a day or two before the official sometimes a ticket site screws up and posts the info early.

Yep. Corporate gig was pretty good but now I own a bunch of restaurants. As the chef you pretty much work all the time. I get away here and there of course but I don't expect or assume I'm entitled to any days off. Kinda goes with the territory

I just started an entry level job and I only get 13 days off per year. And that's sick days included in there. Horrific. But, lucky I live in NY. 2 shows no days off. My boss works remotely in Philly mostly so no days off there either. Can take a half day for Hartford/Albany, and will take 2 or 3 days off for Toronto. So all in all, not bad considering. I just need to figure out how I am gonna afford this and acquire tickets, if this is real!

I get 5 weeks a year holidays, plus an extra week if we wish to bank it. my wife and I make a comparably meager living to those that can afford to follow this band for multiple dates or to different countries or even continents, and she has been nice enough to tolerate travelling with me to 3 of my PJ/EV shows (Fargo, St Paul, and Minneapolis-not terribly far, but still not cheap or quick rides). we've made a mini-holiday out of it.

i doubt I'll be travelling to see this band again. so hopefully we get a canadian tour at some point.

I was speaking strictly about US tours. I'll give you 2008. 2004 was the vote for change tour. The rest were all Europe Canada and S America. They typically don't do US tours without a new album to support. Not saying a 2016 US tour isn't happening just saying it's not what they normally do. So I guess what I'm wondering is is it possible that we could be getting new music next spring?

I get 41 days off per year at my job right now and they are pretty flexible with allowing me to change my time off at the last minute. That makes it easier to put in for time off based on Internet rumors and change it later if it doesn't pan out.

I have 4 kids though so it definitely makes traveling to shows tougher. We try to make any travel include lots of stuff for the kids to do. That way everybody is happy and gets something out of the trip. Plus I end up with enough time off to take the kids to Disney or other places that's all about them.

Are they hiring? Lol. 41 days!!!! Holy shit. I'd take off the summer so I could surf all day
Hah  I've been working here since I graduated from college (20+ years) so they treat me well.

to be fair, it is 15 days + 10 annual public holidays....

that being said, after 10 years of service I get increased to 20 days annually... but that is the max. So when I top out my career I get less than your apprentices...

it's tough to wedge in PJ specific vacation days when my parents live in Newfoundland (and it takes 12 hours of travel to get there) and my brother in Toronto... thus why I get to toronto - two birds, one stone dealy...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

    A. Be financially secure
    B. No wife/husband and or kids
    C. Own their own homes (no mortgage or rent)
    D. Live within their means
    E. Live a debt free lifestyle
    F. Save for travel

Therefore travelling to multiple shows on multiple cities is not a financial strain.

I would add that if you don't drink alcohol or do drugs, don't smoke cigarettes, drink coffee at home rather than paying $3 or more for espresso drinks at shops, and don't have cable, you would save well enough to travel every month, if you wanted to. At least, that's what works for me. Most people I know spend several hundred dollars a month on those things; I prefer to travel regularly.
Also when travelling alone, I always stay in motels or hostels rather than hotels. In NYC, I've never spent more than $35/night for hostels located within a few blocks of the 2/3 subway stops.
