Both the Wrigley and Fenway dates (along with Oro-Medonte Ontario) were completely fabricated by a girl on Reddit just as a test to see if Alternative Nation and the rumor mill would pick it up and they have. She admitted it afterwards.
Was was the Fenway date posted on Reddit? Cause it's been talked about here since late September.
James Taylor is playing Wrigley June 30th so I highly doubt PJ is playing there the next day, so that date is very questionable. I am not doubting they are playing there, just not on July 1st as has been rumored.
Wrigley, in the past, has usually paired concerts to be on back-to-back nights to make the most use of the setup and, presumably, spread the costs. Sometimes it's one artist for two nights, sometimes it's two acts (like in 2013, with PJ on Friday and Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson on Saturday). While there is no real basis for the 7/1 rumored date, the presence of JT on 6/30 is more a point in that date's favor than against it, I would imagine.

I wouldn't say "completely fabricated by her", Wrigley rumor has been mentioned hundreds of times in the thread, and that date would be the most logical date

i may be wrong, but I think in the past they have made major announcements around noon Seattle time. So only 40 more minutes to go!
Seeing visions of falling up somehow.

It makes a ton of sense for them to not have announced it today because Bruce's announcement for his spring tour was today. In fact (and I hope to god I'm wrong - probably am but still food for thought etc.) its entirely possible PJ puts their tour off until a little later in the year than spring because of bruce. I know the two groups respect each other a ton so I think it'd be weird for them to tour at the same time. Unless they teamed up and toured together in which case that'd be greater than the return of Christ.
EDIT- probably at some point in time the two groups were touring during the same months. But that's what I found interesting today, wonder what y'all think about that hypothesis.

True enough. But nearly everything has been mentioned in this thread. References outside of this forum really picked up steam after she posted that - confirmation bias or something.

They are not touring at the same time. Bruce starts next month through early March. PJ is allegedly in April. And I don't think it would be weird for them to both tour at the same time at all.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
It makes no sense to me that PJ would hold back an announcement because Bruce announced his tour today. Is only one band allowed to announce a tour per day? Is that some sort of unwritten rule?

I really doubt Bruce has anything to do with this. While there certainly will be some crossover fans, it's not like we're talking about Jack White or Foo Fighters, where half the crowd (or more) might be torn.

I agree. What would hold back an announcement would be some legal paperwork stuff that may not be finalized yet. You know they are not going to announce anything until all the I's are dotted and T's crossed.

Wow the tin foil hats and black helicopters are out in full force today. We will all be spending the holidays in the looney bin this year if we don't get an announcement soon.
Don't put it past Pearl Jam to be having some fun with this....I mean theyjust trolled the hellout of the Greek dude dedicating Ghost to him at the first show in SA they knew he wouldn't be at.
PS I have posted about the rumored Fenway shows before, my friend works for them. He never said the dates but said PJ requested two holds. Does not mean two shows.
"Populated with every reject and cutthroat from Bombay to Calcutta. It's worse than Detroit."
I brought it up because it's typical market practice not to make a huge release/announcement the same day as another major company/entertainer whatever the case may be. Mostly just speculation, what I was thinking about today. Although I do believe there is some logic to what I'm saying. Of course one could have nothing to do with the other, but you never know. This whole thread is just speculation after all

It's not so much an unwritten rule, or "respect for Bruce" or anything, as trying to avoid sharing the news cycle. Especially when the other act announcing is as huge as Bruce, you can easily get lost in the shuffle (even a band as big as PJ doesn't have the mainstream-media multigenerational appeal that 40-year-career superstar Bruce does). When the goal is to deliver as many people as possible to your onsale date, sharing the news cycle can be harmful.

And Wrigley has been rumored as well...
Doesn't mean they will definitely happen though...
