Read that this morning. Crazy. .... I am still anxiously awaiting the news that they found fossils of some kind. Would be cool.... I guess man might need to be there for that kind of thing though. I wish they would hurry up with getting man on mars. I really want to see the real space/other planet explorations get on the road before I die.

Also wondering just how much water might be there...... enough for Mars to become an eventual water mine/desalinization plant?? You never know.... I mean, now that would be useless and impossible obviously. I'm more thinking 500 years in the future kind of thing. You know. When transporting shit through space is efficient, lol.

Then stop smoking (said with love).
No way. I love smoking, lol (but be fair - I smoke very little compared to most smokers.... even my doctor doesn't seem particularly concerned with the amount).

That's why I don't ever smoke at work.

water so salty no life on earth could survive with it ?...life always finds a way. my guess is that if any life were to survive for a long period of time (even in that extremely salty water) the climate would have to change, from what I understand the surface of mars changes from extreme high heats to low's, but still...what a cool find !

I read about these little guys called Halophiles in one of Craig Childs' book. Apparently they thrive on extremely saline environments. They're very cool:

Imagine.
For every star out there, there might be nine planets, one fully capable of things like us.
imagine? for every galaxy there are 200 billion stars. How many galaxies do they think? a hundred billion.
and we're the only live ones, huh?
"yeah, I'm pretty sure" says the idiot in the corner, "I'm pretty sure"

not saying it aint so but I'll just hold my comments until we have positive proof of intelligent life other than our own.

Some would say humans aren't exactly "intelligent life"
then they are misguided in my opinion, the human race as a whole has advanced in terms of technology in just a very short period of time, medical advancements alone have changed the world.....but I think I know what you mean, maybe we are out-smarting ourselves to the point of total destruction ?

Really though, it's very cool (1) that we even know this! and (2), the potential for other discoveries there.
This is really going to be something.
