FS/FT Ames Transformers Gold Version

So yeah ummm..... I actually got three of the goddamn Golds by accident. I would like to get the regular and chrome if anyone wants to work out a trade. I had two laptops, my ipad ,and my phone and didn't realize the simultaneous transactions. Who needs to pay my mortgage when my family can live under my Ames posters. I heard that three golds transform into a 3600 square foot home. FML

Yeah I almost went to purchase another too in attempt (thinking) that I was going to check out a chrome one. But stopped cause I definitely didn't want to buy 2 of them

  • I also bought the gold because it was the only one available. I am starting to think more and more that they made more golds than each of the other ones. It's the only one that they didn't specify how many they had. Pretty bush league if it turns out to be true.
  • I'm thinking that the gold was the easiest because it was most expensive so it might seem there were more. A good percentage of online buyers are flippers and they want the cheapest poster and will most likely pass on the more expensive varients. I think it would be pretty sneaky for Ames to mislead they're customers by Making more of the highest price variants and not letting us know the number of prints. In the past the more expensive the poster the smaller the edition. I never seen that happen. Has anyone else seen them do something like that in the past? For what it's worth I'm thinking that gold paper is going to look nice in person. I think it gives the poster more of a vintage look. Your thoughts?

In the case of the Gold Transformer, I would wait until you actually get it in your posession to see how many/if any you end up with. Who knows what this will turn into... went from "handful" to "Gold for everyone!"

Is that a guess or based on info? Why wouldn't they just print more since they sold them for a nice chunk of change? No way anyone would ever be able to know without numbering them.

I was able to score a gold and a chrome, so far so good with no refund emails so we'll see if it stays that way. It does seem that the most you hear about is the gold one which is strange. Makes sense that it was oversold I guess because I would have thought it would have been the toughest to score.

Sooooo, doesn't this make the MOST expensive version the LEAST rare, therefore the LEAST valuable??

I'm sure Ames will refund anyone's money who wants to back out due to more being released than originally planned.. Wonder how many was released.. Less than 100? Ames should number them now so at least everyone knows..

Buying artwork because you think it's valuable, may not be the most sound reason for purchasing the artwork in the first place. I hope things work out for you to your liking.

Maybe "valuable" isn't the correct word. $250 is a lot to spend on a poster. It's the only thing I collect and that could have added two or three nice pieces to my collection. It's just going to be a bummer when they're selling on ebay for $100 because everyone has one. Everyone wants the piece that has the fewest made, that's what makes it unique and worth spending the money to begin with. I dunno?

Add a 3 in front of that 20 and you are getting warmer… 320 is still low. Ask around peoples order #'s and you can do the math… They are up there in numbers. Silver is the one to have.

People buy artwork all the time and pay more because of a piece being limited. Doesn't just apply to concert posters, applies to photography, sculpture, paintings, prints of paintings etc...

That's why if you've ever bought art, they announce the number produced before you buy or an auction, it's not uncommon.
