Do you collect Pearl Jam on cassette?

I'll probably start once they're going for $150+...that somehow seems to be my "collectible" alarm. But, until then, no.

I have a few from when they were originally released (including a copy of Vs. that was titled Five Against One before they were yanked from the shelf). I still have a few bootlegs on cassette, and all I can say is, "Thank you PJ for issuing your own bootlegs." :glasses:

I have most of the studio albums. Think the later ones are foreign issue

  • I have all nine no codes and everything else on cassette. They are Analog recirdings so still superior to cd sound if the tape is in good condition. Plus the lil books and labels are really cool.

Only thing I ever had on cassette was Ten. I hung the liner card in my locker at school back then. I was in full CD mode by the time Vs came out.

I had ten boxes of old bootleg cassettes from the tape trading days. Threw them out with the trash when I moved last month. Hope I never see another cassette ever again!

I have a high end Sony dual tape deck from 2001 - I am toying with picking up a new copy of No Code or Live on Two Legs and seeing. Man, I really can't wait to get back to work, I think idle time the past few weeks has been messing with my head.

I had Ten on tape back in the day, and my bootleg tape I made of the radio show they broadcasted. I don't believe I have either anymore.

Wonder if any of these new 'sealed' tapes on Discogs have degraded any over time.

lol, I have a few. All the US copies, including the 9 No Codes. The No Codes are my fav to collect. Euro copies, and the fun ones to hunt down are all the Southeast Asian versions of all the releases.

Ten - Binaural have US copies. All the ones thereafter are foreign issues.

I will pick them up, if I see em for cheap. Same with any PJ CD - they need to be rescued.
  • I've had a few from my teenage years, but I've started picking up some of the later albums now that I've amassed a nice collection of Garage rock tapes from the past couple of years. I figure I may as well complete my PJ collection too.

I'm seeing the post 2000 records imported from Thailand. Are they legit or are they just bootlegs? Does anyone know?

I figured they stopped making US albums around Yield.

There are some US printed ones available on Discogs. No clue about the Asian printed ones.

Guilty of this as well. I was looking for vinyl on ebay and it gave a suggestion to a listing for tapes. Next thing you know I was collecting tapes as they seemed too cheap to pass up. Of course now I have to complete the set and some of the post 2000 albums aren't so cheap.

I don't think tapes sound better than vinyl, or have a quality like vinyl. I have re-realized that lately.

  • I agree. I don't think they sound better than vinyl, but they still have a nice sound. I still have my originals, but a few need to be replace because they were played so much. My Ten was stored for years in the middle of a song, so now every time I play it there is a warp sound. Grrr.

Yes. I still will pick up a cassette if cheap enough.

Yep… Vinyl, Cassette, CD, Mini Disc.. Just need 8-Track, those have been pretty hard to find. I use to collect all the singles but gave up eventually, just having the albums is good enough for me now. Pretty cool having all that together in one place….
