So, almost seven years after I opened this thread, I randomly google "pearl jam Israel" and re-discover it.
A lot of speculation in Israel regarding the countdown and what we may find out on July 8th, hoping it would somehow lead to a concert in Israel.
I remember at the time we were also campaigning to bring the band to Israel. Seven years later, other Israelis are still doing what I once took part in. I live now in LA, and enjoy the undoubted privilege of attending concerts of artists I love and get to experience amazing live music, witnessing the artists in action. I still remember though how as a 15 year old in Israel, all I wished for was to be able see pearl jam in my own country. I eventually worked for a full year and saved enough money to go see them in Athens in 2006- and the experience exceeded all expectations.
Israel has a strong community of Pearl Jam fans, but it's been 7 years and no actual response from the band or anyone associated, despite our best efforts.
I guess my questions are: What do you think would take to bring Pearl Jam to Israel? are people hoping for something that will never happen? Is it all about politics?
I feel like there are many other countries the band didn't tour through, but it's probably due to a small fanbase.
Would love to read people's opinions - if someone actually read through this whole thing
A lot has changed since 2006. Israel has shown that it has zero interest in peace, and is solely interested in stealing more land and ethnically cleansing the Palestinians. It has also committed massive crimes against humanity against both the Palestinians and Lebanese since this thread was started back in 2006.
Israel is a dangerous, racist, rogue state, and Pearl Jam, and any other Western artists and musicians, have no business performing there.

If the Israeli's began conforming to international law, and put an end to their illegal occupation, then I'd have no objection with Pearl Jam, or any other band, playing there.
The whole World supports a peaceful settlement to the Israel-Palestine conflict as laid out in U.N Resolution 242. That resolution calls for a full and immediate withdrawal of all Israelis from land it seized during the 1967 war. The whole World supports this resolution, except Israel and the U.S, which, for the past 45 years, has used it's power of automatic veto to block every single resolution that has been in any way critical of Israel. The Israeli's have refused to abide by international law, and to the will of the whole of the international community, and have continued building racist, Jewish-only settlements on land stolen from the Palestinians. That settlement construction continues to this day in defiance of World opinion and outrage. Therefore, Israel is a rogue state.
