    good Tour.

would have loved a fignon/le mond showdown but those don't happen anymore.

a buddy of mine texted "if you crash at 61 mph, you better hope it's fatal"

    well done, boys.

sorry ... outside of sagan ... was a horrible tour ... no drama whatsoever ... team sky is essentially the yankees/red sox of cycling ... don't see them losing a tour unless they fold ...

GC was certainly not very exciting. I saw one headline that said Froome won the tour of circumstances. But I did think it was a good tour as far as individual stages - 3 photo finishes, breakaway excitement, Froome running up Ventoux.

those photo finishes were insane! how the hell would they have figured those out in the olden days?

speaking of which.....they used to do 500km stages and stop to smoke cigarettes

"Guzzling alarming amounts of alcohol was the norm. Beer, wine, and brandy were considered safer to drink than water from questionable roadside wells or springs."

    Sounds funs. :)

Landis is in the public eye again. Towards the end of the article is his opinion on doping in cycling and whether it is different now. http://cyclingnews.com/features/hell-always-have-paris-floyd-landis-returns-to-the-tour-de-france/

Yes, it sucks.  I'm not even that interested in watching the TDF at the moment.  But that may change.  Just hope Froome doesn't have it wrapped up.

July is my favorite month for sports.  Baseball hits mid-season & the All-Star Game, Wimbledon, and the Tour.  But I haven't watched the Tour in years.  Couldn't even name any teams or riders except Sky, Ag2r, Froome, & Cavendish.  And that prick Contador if he's still around.  I feel like the sport has gone entirely too political - like Formula One - and I've lost interest in recent years.  Would this be a good year to try to get back into it?  The last year I really paid any attention was when Cadel Evans won and the Schleck brothers were on the podium.  That was a damn good Tour.

this was what I found, due to this site’s STELLAR search feature…..an 8 year old thread. oh, well…

so cavendish wins another stage to beat merckx’s record. I say good for him. didn’t think the old boy had another in him. my buddy is pissed that he got the record. I told my buddy, no one is ever gonna say cavendish was better than merckx. merckx won all sorts of stages, cav only wins sprints. it’s like no one should think ovechkin is a greater hockey player than gretzky, even if he gets the goal record.

and….fuck a bunch of streaming…now, the only way to watch the TDF. streaming is not what they promised. “you’ll be able to watch EVERYTHING for free!” uh, no.

Good for Cav. It’s been a fun tour so far. Looks like it could be tough for anyone to beat Pogacar in the overall (he was solid in the Giro), but still a long tour and anything can happen.

Too bad I don’t feel like paying for Peacock or whatever.

Sucks that you cannot watch it. I subscribe to a separate cycling streaming service, but I’m also in Canada, so regional access and rights are likely completely different.
  • WobbieWobbie Posts: 30,211
I could watch it if I paid (some more) money. For many, many years the TDF was a July tradition for us.
