It's been a year now. CNN had an interesting article today about the shootout, and apparently is airing a documentary about it tonight.

So, whatever happened to the bunch of white terrorists who unloaded on a peaceful Sunday afternoon? Any three strikes your out? Any attempted murder charges that stuck? Or did their leather get them off? I'm just wondering because I haven't heard squat since. Must be the new justice department.09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. How is this related to Trump at all? It sounds like the previous DA over reached and dropped the ball. The city or police were facing 100 unlawful arrest lawsuits because of that. How is that white privilege and on Trump? I fail to see the connection here.0

            What's up, my dudes?
Yeah, this wasn't about white privilege getting the bikers off. This was about bias and discrimination against the biker community from government and law enforcement, and their biases caused them to go after these guys in a way that violated their rights, and the rights and safety of the innocent bystanders. This was government and law enforcement overreach. Nothing to do with white privilege. Godfather had his one exactly right."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." 9 deaths as the result of a daytime shootout in public and no state charges or follow up federal charges? If the Panthers and Reverand Al had this shootout, there'd be multiple convictions, including death penalty cases. I thought government overreach in Texas was impossible?jeffbr said:What's up, my dudes?

This was about bias and discrimination against the biker community from government and law enforcement, and their biases caused them to go after these guys in a way that violated their rights, and the rights and safety of the innocent bystanders. This was government and law enforcement overreach. Nothing to do with white privilege. Seemed to me that the bikers were trying to defend themselves from hillbilly law enforcement. Sure, initially they were pissed at each other, but when Johnny Law came storming in guns blazing, all hell broke loose. Who fired the shots that led to the 9 deaths? I know law enforcement was responsible for at least 2. Wouldn't be surprised if it was all 9. This was started by out of control bikers, and ultimately was a massive failure of law enforcement and prosecution. They rounded up and arrested 177 and then investigated them. That's the opposite of how things work. They also held many of them on $1 million bonds. More than 100 bikers have filed civil rights lawsuits against law enforcement. So again, you might say white privilege, but I say overreach, which is why the prosecutor couldn't see the criminal cases through. White priveliege would have meant releasing these guys at the scene, not indiscriminately locking them up (whether or not they committed any offense) and holding them on $1 million bond, and disrupting their lives while investigations occurred for years.Halifax2TheMax said:

Regarding gun deaths by law enforcement, perps are held accountable for collateral damage all the time. According to the WaPo, 4 victims died of gunshots that were the same caliber of law enforcement rifles. How serious was their investigation? Why was it handled the way it was? Why haven't the Feds filed charges and done things appropriately? Filing civil suits means nothing until they're heard and ajudicated, non-starter. Would law enforcement have "overreached" if it were the Panthers and Louis Farakhan (Reverand Al is old and not a threat anymore) blasting away at each other? And from the video I saw, there were two bikers taking shots at each other. Its amazing to me that a daylight shoot out with multiple victims and over a 100 participants can happen and there aren't consequences for those "responsible." 'Murica, woot! Remind me not to go to Texas.jeffbr said:

I'm not going to argue anything about Texas justice. I was only commenting on white privilege being the driver. I believe the hillbilly law enforcement in Waco would have been guns blazing if it had been Mexicans, Black Panthers, scary white bikers, or a couple of dudes with a bag of weed. My parents moved to Texas for a decade. I visited them twice. After that I told them that if they wanted to see me or my kids they knew where I lived. They moved away shortly after that, so it became a non-issue. That was a couple of decades ago. I haven't been back since and won't ever go back. It is a fucking felony to have a weed vape pen in your possession. Cannabis concentrates are automatic felonies. So yeah, no Texas for me ever.Halifax2TheMax said:

Yeah, TX weed laws are ridiculous. Fortunately there are some bills gaining traction. There is no way the laws can stay the way they are much longer with all of the neighboring states loosening the noose. Legalization has pretty heavy bipartisan support these days.jeffbr said:

Nice. I'm rooting for your state. If that happens, I may indeed visit again! I've always wanted to see Austin.PJPOWER said:
