I'd really like to know the whole story of this. Having never known of a promo copy that wasn't in a box, I am curious to know the details. Where / how did you acquire this?

Don't really know too much of the background on this particular set, but I was able to purchase it thru a VERY reputable source 2-3 yrs ago from an Italian seller...was presented wrapped in plastic, with each LP sealed individually....mine isn't the only one.

Interesting stuff! I, too, had no idea they existed in this capacity either, but that's really cool. It's amazing what's out there in the realm of PJ merch.
