Things to do in Florida?

I am going to Disney World Florida in September for a few days for work. Besides Mickey Mouse, what else should I plan to do/check out?

I'm going there week 1 of the NFL(Thursday, Friday and Saturday), but unfortunately the Dolphins aren't playing at home opening week, or I would've gone there on Sunday for sure. I think the Jaguars are the only Florida team at home that week, but I'm not interested in going to Jacksonville.

Anyone here form Florida or been there before?

    Enjoy all the random showers and humidity. I spent a few weeks there over the years in Lakeland and hated it. It was always for work and I refuse to ever go back. Plus you have to worry about homeless people hopped up on bath salts that want to eat your face.

    I've never been, but I hear that you need to drive really slow. It helps if you slip down in your seat just so that your eyes can barely see above the steering wheel. I agree with Rob. Leave your turn signal on the entire time. September is during hurricane season, so pack for that. Don't forget the sunglasses! :sunglasses:

    There's only 2 things I've ever enjoyed in Florida. 1) the Eddie Vedder show in Jacksonville, and 2) golf.

    Other than that, Florida could secede from the union and I wouldn't notice.

    Don't listen to all the jealous Hating responses above.While they are shoveling their driveways 1/2 the year when it's grey and snowy us Floridians are at the beach or on a boat or golfing andHeat and humidity are good for Ya and mean you need less clothing.

    Now to answer your question.If your coming in Sept here's some stuff to check out.Not far from Orlando or in the Metro area.

    Go to Universal City Walk at night.Some fun eats and lots of happening night spots all in one place.We drive up(Im 2 hrs south) to see shows at the Hard Rock live there.After the Show we always go to The Rising Star Karioke club.They have a super talented house band and watching drunk tourists w/sun burned skin think they are Rock stars is the best.Its done top notch,and you will have a great time.

    Head over to Tampa (40 min west)and go party and Eat at World famous Ybor City.Some great eats and you can get some sweet hand rolled cigars,lots of bars,etc.I like the Green Iguana myself.

    Catch the Gospel Breakfast or a show at House of Blues.Great venue,check there schedule.That same Downtown Disney area has Cirque De Solea(sp).

    Head over to Ra sushi off international Drive in the complex called "the Pointe" they have great saki Bombs and there is a Cuban night club next door which is seedy fun.

    Drive east to the Cape Canavral and go to NASA.Tour and IMAX.Really cool.

    Go to a game at Ucf or USF

    Come south and party in Palm beaches ,Lauderdale or get nasty in South Beach Miami.

    Hope it helps.I know it's not as good as a vacation near Cleveland but whatcha gunna do.

We are the most fed hating state in the union and people here believe government should be out of our lives. Its how we have 1800 era gun laws still (which I disapprove of).     Go to Universal City Walk at night.Some fun eats and lots of happening night spots all in one place.We drive up(Im 2 hrs south) to see shows at the Hard Rock live there.After the Show we always go to The Rising Star Karioke club.They have a super talented house band and watching drunk tourists w/sun burned skin think they are Rock stars is the best.Its done top notch,and you will have a great time.
