The Stones just played "Out of Time" for the first time ever.  I know we go nuts for PJ debuting a song after 30 years as a band, but 56 years after its release...damn!  That's a debut!
I can imagine them making a setlist. Prob 100+ songs they never played live. Killer song.

That's really cool. I would love to see them busting out "Ventilator Blues" sometime. I believe they only ever played it once, back in 1972. Such a great song.
I want pj to go record in that same hot sweaty room they made that record in. Do it! Too late I know.

I believe Exile was recorded in Keith's castle/mansion in France.  They were tax exiles (hence the title maybe?) during that period.

    Fuck yeah
Fuck Yeah, is right. Great song.

But, they have some many GREAT songs like that they've almost never played. Ridiculous, really. All the years they've Toured they couldn't of had a Tour or 2, and announcing before hand, that were NOT play the Warhorse songs and that wer going to play songs we haven't played, or rarely played in years.

Perhaps. I read that wherever it was it was really dank and hot with poor ventilation, hence the birth of ventilator blues. (Furthermore hence whathaveyou) I had an old spin with an article about it. I think I gave it to my bro who is a greater stones fan than me. I'll see if I can find it.

Interesting.. I always assumed it was about someone on a ventilator due to a drug overdose or something.  Kind of like the natural conclusion to Sister Morphine.

It was recorded at Nellcote, a mansion in the south of France that Keith rented after leaving England as tax exiles. There was a decent short documentary called Stones in Exile about the recording of the album. Should be available on one of the streaming sites.

Could have something to do with that too. I didn't ever really listen to the lyrics.

  • THE ROLLING STONES with THÅSTRÖM - July 31, Friends Arena.

Great -show- with an inspiringly animated Mick Jagger. But the sound pierced through both earplugs and eardrums. Did not experience the same slasher-movie soundmix during Thåström’s set.

Best songs: Miss You, Out of Time, Living in a Ghost Town, Isbergen and Ungefär såhär.

Nice!  What do you mean by ear piercing?  I usually think of that as poor quality, as good quality should not hurt (especially outdoors).

I looked at the set.. You've Got the Silver is one of my fav songs from them.

It was Very loud. And the sound of the guitars, the harmonica and the woman singing some
parts of Gimme Shelter just hit the ears like a high piched knife.

Lucky I had earplugs. It was torture for my friend who didnt bring any.

    Still a great show.

Just thought I'd share this, the Stones are still sounding incredibly good. Mick Jagger is just a force of nature, the greatest frontman that's ever lived.

Never saw them. Picked up their singles cassette box set for dirt cheap. Mad B sides. Unmatched. Came with a sweet book too.
