Sold some of my collection last year - some good folks off of here got some great deals. Have regretted it ever since and have been building my vinyl collection back up - have re-acquired Benny, Lost Dogs, RVM (sealed too), No Code and a few other bits and pieces since, but am aware there's some things I sold I'm unlikely to ever see again.
Not even going to bother trying to build up the CD's again - am never going to see Freak, Give Way or the Jap Mini-CD's available anywhere.
I can offer four simple words of advice.
Do not do it
oooooh, give way. I would love to have that one. one of the priciest pj items on cd these days if I'm not mistaken?
Nope, Freak is more. So is the Monkey Wrench promo.
Some pricey ones out there.
on page 2-3 of Freak on pjcollectors, it lists Even Flow (track 17) as "re-recorded". Is that version anywhere else, and is it much different, if at all?

D'oh.

It's the one used for the video. I'll have to check if it's somewhere else.
so the live version where Ed yells at Josh to turn the lights out?
OK Paulonius I just listened to it. Same version as the video. It doesn't have him berating Josh in the beginning but still has that arrrrgh in the beginning. Not sure if it is anywhere else.

They are in a good place though! :-)
I am sorry you feel bad about it now...
I don't feel bad about who they went to, everyone from here that got something was enormously grateful, and I'm glad they went to homes where they'll be loved and played.
The CD aspect I'm really not concerned about, I have everything (except Give Way as that was still sealed) ripped and stored in lossless on my NAS anyway. And I don't even have a CD player that works anymore (and no plans to buy one as I have a Sonos Play 5)
I do, however, have a turntable connected up to an amp and some lovely speakers, and have just done my first ever Ikea hack and built a custom unit for my vinyl and the turntable. Selling the records has irked more because of this.
Good thing is though, I'm in a very fortunate position where I can afford to buy one or two of them a month, even at the inflated prices they go for now. So I'll be back to full compliment album wise soon enough, just not sure if I'll ever see a Light Years or 5 Tracks 12" ever again... But as alluded to up thread, the chase is half the fun...
Just curious Doc, what all did your Ikea hack entail?
^Yes I'm curious as well^ I'm looking for ideas on what I should do

It's a BESTÅ shelf unit/height extension unit - didn't put the middle shelves in and it's the perfect height for most vinyl - beware though some boxsets don't fit and you have to take the vinyly out. It's the exact height to get Foo Fighters 'In Your Honor' and the 'Live on Ten Legs' boxsets in etc
The legs are some 10" hairpin legs I got from eBay - there's five legs (one at the back in the middle behind all the 7" singles)
Cost £85 in total. At some point I'll replace the top panel with some proper hardwood once I can be bothered to get it cut
And ignore the POS turntable, that's being replaced by a Rega RP-1 Record Store Day edition when it's released in April
^^^Very nice! I also went the Ikea way and when I get time (and figure out picture posting) I'll post pics.

Sorry to drag this back up - the upgrades are in. Changed to a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon for the TT instead. And changed the amp. And the speakers
I've also managed to re-purchase almost everything vinyl I sold previously (just looking for a Five Tracks 12" and I'm complete again), and will never be letting it go again

looks good - but you may need to separate the turntable from the speakers. High volumes may make the record jump!!!!
I have not, because I know I will regret it! If you're not strapped for cash and you are on the fence, you should keep them if Pearl Jam is your #1 favourite band in the whole wide world. If you've got shit going on in your life, then you should do what you need to to take care of that, including selling your record collection if you need.
If you want to make sure that your records go to homes of people who will appreciate it, you probably just need to do a bit of research of those individuals on this board. However, you really have no control over what people ultimately end up doing, so you kinda have to just go with your gut, and let that one go after the vinyl leaves your hands.

I believe I have it on the original Japanese version of the Alive EP. I will have to check. I rarely listen to CDs anymore. This version is SO much better than the album version.

The problem will selling high value items from your collection (when you don't have doubles) is that cost of reacquiring them into your collection makes it very hard to rebuild the collection. Once you sell those items you probably won't ever have them again. I got close to selling my Benaroya when I was in University because I was broke. I think a Benny was only going for about $400 back then. I somehow scraped by without selling it. Could you imagine if I did. How hard would that of been for me to get another copy of. I know I would of regretted it.
This is also the toughest part of collecting for me. I don't really have any doubles of anything, so If i I want something rare I always have to pony up the cash for it. Expensive hobby.

Couldn't agree more. As I said upthread, I've managed to re-collect almost all the vinyl that I sold - reckon it's cost me about £300 more than I sold it all for (and that's without finding a Five Tracks EP yet). I shall probably not be telling Mrs Dr this...
I thought I would regret selling some of my valuable pieces but I didn't because I ended up buying something I really wanted that I wouldn't be able to afford without selling them.
