Australian Tour - In General

How good is this tour!!!!! I wish I could have afforded to go to all gigs in all states, unfortunately that wasnt the case. I went to Sydney 1 and 2 and am eagerly awaiting Sydney 3 on the 18th (6 days to go!!).
I am just so ecstatic at the set lists. They are amazing, as well as the shows of course. I dont think there has ever been a tour like this in Australia. I have seen them every time that they have come to Australia. The best show I had ever seen was Eastern Creek in 1994. Now I have to say it was Sydney 1 & 2 2006!!! They are shitting all over anything I have ever seen them do before....INCLUDING ANYTHING THEY HAVE RELEASED ON DVD!
Is it just me or do any others have the same opinion? I just feel they are really switched on and actually enjoying what they are doing this tour. It is like they have a whole new attitude.

The Kings of Leon were great and I am glad there were plenty of fans inside watching them while the rest were struggling to decide between the very expensive & the very average P.J.merchandise !!!!
I didn't buy the crappyT.shirt but regreted it as soon as I got to the airport & saw some lucky buggers wearing them proudly !!!! I wanted to shout "hey, I was there too ..." but was such a tight ass ...!!!!!
About the concert ...
Why the hell did they need so many breaks ??? come on, why would they need to leave the stage every 1/2 hour or so ??? I didn't get it and felt like yelling "Give me my money back" !!!!!
Did anyone else go ?
What did you think of it , I mean REALY let's be frank here ...I feel like I was had !!!!!
I must say however that there was a highlight for me...when they played "Better man" ... being a woman myself I was touched to see men & women of all ages singing as one...the only magic moment for me ...
By the way, I even left the concert before it was over ....a 1st for me.
haha jeez...

Ummmm were we at the same concert?! I don't know what you're talking about... this was one of the best PJ shows I have seen!!! I have also seen them many times (15 now) and it was truly up there with the best.
FYI they always leave the stage that many times... they play for over TWO HOURS for god's sake!!! having two short breaks between 3 sets is totally acceptable and well deserved... i can't believe you are complaining about a total of about 10 minutes that they probably use to take a piss and have a drink!!!
I hope you enjoyed spending a shit load of money to hear betterman... next time just listen to the CD and turn it up loud.0 -

they actually left the stage 3 times before the end of the concert and well before the time for an "encore"
I admire your loyalty ...

Freedom of speech granted..
lol but I've never tried to drink a bottle of wine so i couldn't imagine that would sit too well in my bladderhehe

mate you are having your freedom of speech and so am I.
if you wanna get picky about how many times they left the stage, I would say it's two. Once after the first set, once after the first encore. I wouldn't count the last time they left the stage... I mean, they have to leave sometime!
Anyway who gives a shit... it was a bloody brilliant concert and too bad for you if you don't think so.0 -
cool to hear cause i have seen pj in the states this year and am going to both hometown adel shows in a weeks time... I want aussie fans to experience the great pearl jam in full flight.I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Ok fair enough,
we all have different expectations I guess !
I never saw them before, but I have been to see many other great bands, and in my opinion, last friday was average,
I am real glad I didn't bother buying their last record !!!
I forgot the other highlight ...it was when the guy next to me on row X started the "Mexican wave" ...
HUmmmmmmmm

some funny shit right there! haahah i mean im as much a fan of mexican waves as the next mexican waver but im not sure if its a highlight of a pearl jam concert?
"I didn't buy the crappyT.shirt but regreted it as soon as I got to the airport & saw some lucky buggers wearing them proudly !!!! I wanted to shout "hey, I was there too ..." but was such a tight ass ...!!!!!"
so what the shirt actually crappy or not?
u wanted to let people know youd flown from NZ to watch Betterman?
how can you post a review of a show without seeing it all? you left early!!
id like to know what bands youve seen before, and what your recommended time for an encore is? maybe we can pass it on to pearl jam, or we could just ask them to start each show with betterman so you can get out nice and early to catch the first flight home!
"hope they dont get the bootleg, lord knows theyre not gettin a tour" Ed in Brisbane 2003 after calling NZ a nothing-country haha
no but actually you are right - youve got issues0 -
Both Brisbane one and two were totally awesome. I love that they go off for encore breaks, it adds to the excitement.
This is going to be one fantastic tour, and I am insanely jealous of all of you who are awaiting your shows. You lucky bastardsI look forward to not being a student anymore, so i can fly around to see some more shows.
This tour was, in my opinion, a million times better than the last.
As for expensive merchandise, it is always the case. BUT my friend's in a small known band and they reckon that is where they make the most of their money.
So goodluck to them having Expensive merch i say! Afterall , if they didn't make money, they wouldn't tour.I have no signature0 -
Songs like better man and even flow still go off but if they are going to be your highlight then pj isnnt for you. they are not a greatest hits band. I think the original poster is going a little over the top.. the shows aren't THAT fantastic to be wetting yourself like you are. They're good (I was at Sydney 1), but in comparision to the few other shows I've been lucky enough to go to (Buffalo, Toronto, Boston night 3 all in 2003) these Aussie shows, so far, aren't really "stand-outs" like you're making them out to be.
But more importantly, what's up with the really boring Aussie crowds?? Seriously, my two friends and I were the only ones jumping/dancing at all in our section. The rest were either standing (were they even singing..??), and there were even a good handful that were sitting. Yeah, sitting. The fuck? Why pay 100 bucks to go to a show to sit on your ass and play with your cell phone??
Moral of the story: Pearl Jam need to come to NZ.
End of rant. Thank you.0 -

You feel like you were had? Maybe you should have stayed for the entire show then. Maybe this is why the Asutralian crowds suck. They're too concerned with the encore breaks. In case you didn't know, Mike has Chron's disease which could factor in for the need to take an encore break- not that a band that plays 2 and a half hour gigs on average really needs a justification to take an encore break. They also decide what songs to play and make changes to the setlist. Something I doubt the other bands you've seen do.
Also next time, buy a shirt only if you want it. Don't buy it to be a sheep so you can then say "hey, I was there too ..." especially if you we're so "had".My Pearl Jam Photos

out of all the shows here so far, only the 2nd Sydney one apparently had an ordinary crowd. Both Brisbane shows and the first Sydney show, the crowds were awesome and received plenty of praise and im sure you'll hear the band's comments on the boots
