I had one record of my Sevens set defective. The Ten Club had me send the whole thing back. I could have just exchanged the one defective record. They did not ask me to break up the vinyl. I'm assuming they want a picture of the label, with that destroyed vinyl.
There were some people who got duplicate discs and were missing others with Sevens. But not nearly as many as we are seeing with this vault.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
My copy is flawless. Packaging was outstanding. If someone received a damaged one, thats on UPS because 10c literally could not have packaged these up any more. Kudos 10c.

I took my copy to my local record store today. He cleaned it in his VPI cleaner. The popping odd still present but a little muted. Still very noticeable. Definitely a pressing issue.

Mine plays beautifully. There's some scuffs but so far it does not effect the first vinyl I'm playing. Love the Vault b
my LB was the same way played through with pops/cracks. i was accepting of the outcome up until i played it again at a much later date when a skip started occurring before infallible rendering that side unplayable.
With vinyl costing so much more than other formats it sucks big time when you get a lemon.

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can level-set me on what I'm hearing from my Vault 4 vinyl and help me understand if I should request a replacement.
I've listened to sides A, B and C so far and while I do hear some faint crackling in background, especially during the quiet parts, it seems to be what I've always considered "normal" for vinyl. During the loader passages, I can't really hear the crackling, but once the music dies down, I can hear it in the background. It's not so loud as to be a complete distraction, but it's loud enough t be noticeable. Again, it's just what I've considered to be "normal".
I did clean the vinyl prior to listening and visually, they look great. But with all the talk of pops and crackles being unacceptable, I'm wondering if I should ask for a replacement or is this really just normal behavior and what other folks have experienced is far worse? I realize it's difficult to tell without actually listening to it, so I may try to do a rip and post some samples.
I will say, almost every other record I've owned has some sort of audible crackling noise in the background that's usually drowned out by the louder parts. It seems the older the record, the less drowned out it is, but even newer records seem to have this noise, with the notable exception of the 2014 Led Zeppelin III vinyl. I cranked the volume pretty high and couldn't hear any crackling.
Thanks for reading and sorry if this is a bit convoluted, but I'd appreciate any opinions.

I've noticed some more quiet cracking lately and honestly, I think mine is static. If I replace my slipmat or if freakin' winter will end, the quiet crackles on mine will go away.

Thanks deadendp. I hadn't thought to try replacing my slipmat. My turntable is only a year or so old, but the slipmat is just the felt one that it came with.
