Since when is getting 20 inches of snow historic? I can remember getting a couple feet over night and going to school the next morning. It happens in new york, and the world comes to an end. Sissies.

Don't you know? It's the end of days and the zombie apocalypse is coming (at least that is how people are acting in the stores and on the roads)--you better stock up.

CNN won't shut up about a snow fall. It's not even blizzard conditions yet. So you may get some 50 mph wind. Big deal.

I'm hearing they're already starting to downplay the totals haha, went from 3 ft to 8-10 inches. Unless I'm watching the wrong weather channel

Thunder snow sounds like the name of a new action hero (or villain, take your pick).

Just because they say it, doesn't mean it's a real thing. I can say I am an undiscovered supermodel, doesn't mean it's true.

I'm in CT and our totals are going up, we went from 10 inches to a foot, now we are 18 to 30 inches...depending on where the heavy snow bands are. Regardless, After Sandy people here are wicked freaked about losing power. Especially if it's for a week or more in 20 degree temps. So Historic? Maybe not, but worthy of the hype if it keeps some dumb asses off the roads and no one sets themselves on fire in their own home.

I grew up just south of Chicago and we always got 10-20 inches of lake effect snow or a foot of snow from a blizzard and I never remember getting school cancelled or car curfews. It all seems like a media driven panic.

Maybe because NY is more vulnerable? Not as used to big snow storms as you are in and around Chicago? They're talking off hurricane-like winds, which can knock down trees and power lines. Potentially millions of people affected. It does seem like a slow news day and Wolf Blitzer is getting ready to piss his pants in the Situation room.

Yes, people do have generators but this amount of snow just doesn't happen by the shore very often 8-|

We get snow but put a few inches down and there are hundreds of accidents. The traffic here isn't just in the cities. It's everywhere, all the time. Us East coasters always in a hurry to pay for our high cost of living and bitching about never getting enough Pearl Jam shows to meet the demand of the area...uuggh. We just suck.

So places like boston, new york, and Philly aren't used to a foot of snow?

If it snowed a foot where I live it would basically be apocalyptic. Everyone here panics if we get more than 3 inches, and if we got 6 inches the entire city would come to a grinding halt, lol. It all depends on what everyone is used to.

It's definitely like that here in Charleston when we get a few inches. But we are talking about the NE here. None of those places are that far from buffalo which gets a shit ton of snow annually.

NYC, no not really....and where I am, no, not really. Boston of course. But 2 or 3 feet is a big deal. If we get it...so there is that.

They're calling for two to three feet of snow with sustained wind gusts of 60 mph up to 80 mph. Boston has cancelled all public transportation for tomorrow and there is a driving curfew in MA and RI beginning at midnight tonight. Throw in the thunder snow and it's more than your typical gently falling two feet of snow. Our state's finest, state police officer at a news conference said, and I quote, "stay off the roads, stay home and get in bed." We've been ordered to bed!

Ha, ha, ha bring it on, I love it!!!!!
