The Seahawks never claimed that they made it up. They know they didn't. It's just that they and their fan base happened to have embraced it. I don't see the problem.

I'm under the impression Texas A&M owns the rights, for which the Seahawks organization pay an annual licensing fee.

The Seahawks organization didn't acknowledge at all A&M's trademark until A&M threatened to sue. Then they came to the agreement whereby the Seahawks pay A&M to use the 12th Man name. Ask any random Seahawks fan or even the 10c people and I bet you they think it originated with the Seahawks. Now that Seattle has been to the Super Bowl the last two years the whole country thinks the 12th Man belongs to the Seahawks. If you've ever been to a game at Kyle Field or know much at all about Texas A&M then you would understand why we feel it is a big deal.

The 10c desperately needs a sizing chart for all items. Too many brands. Too many fits. I've wasted too much money already.
Ames Bros gave a sizing chart and believe me, I used it.

Wouldn't you want to own a shirt of the winning team also?
    lol

Maybe Aerosmith, Godsmack or NKOTB has one you can order?

No love for the Dropkick Murphys?

The crowd is routinely causing minor earthquakes with their cheering.

I don't think anyone other than casual fans are giving them credit for the inception of the 12th Man moniker. What people are giving them credit for is making a significant impact for their team. Kyle Field might be fantastic, but I'm sorry... Seattle owns the crown right now (yes... I know Arrowhead currently owns the world record).

Am I the only one that finds it funny (almost ironic, even - but let's not get into a debate about that definition) that the Pats star player wears #12??????????

This is certainly an 'interesting' matchup....... We have arguably the two least likable NFL teams squaring off for the title.

I would think for football fans outside of the NE or SEA fan bases, their rooting interest will come down to who they hate the least!

(Bear in mind this statement is coming from a Pats fan!)

I don't think people hate the Seahawks. Maybe in SF or divisional rivals, but not across the country. Seattle hasn't been good long enough to instill deep seated hatred. Unless you're weird and have something against Jim Zorn for some reason (am I dating myself?). It's hard to hate Carroll and Russell Wilson. Gotta respect the 'Beast'. And I actually like Sherman, mostly because I hate Harbaugh and his lack of support during the draft is well known. As a Buckeye, you must dislike Harbaugh. It's required.

How are the Seahawks the least likable? I have never heard or sensed that.

With Seattle winning last year and the fact I really hate the Pats, I guess I don't care who wins. As a long suffering fan of all Houston teams, I'm used to not being too excited around championship time --except for those two years the Rockets won it all.

I like Russell Wilson a lot, I think he's a very well spoken, down to earth individual, unlike so many of his teammates who can't seem to STFU.

I respect Richard Sherman's athleticism, but his act wore thin with me a long time ago. I don't like athletes who talk $hit as much as he does. Plain & simple. (& his teammates seem to follow suit)

    Who is 'the beast'?

Probably not well liked in Wisconsin after these last 3 seasons.

Like Sherman, I respect Lynch's athleticism, but it ends there. If you want to cheer for him that's your prerogative, I happen to think he's a typical 'me-first' punk who puts his own agenda ahead of the team's. That's my opinion on him. (And yes, he is a beast..... I honestly didn't know which player that term referenced)

Bear in mind, I have all the respect in the world for the Seahawks as an opponent...... I think they stand a better chance to win than the Patriots. With that being said, there are a lot of players on that team who I really can't stand to hear talk, I hope the Pats find a way to shut them up.

If they don't however, I'll do my damnedest to simply tip my cap & move along.

    May the best team win!

Yes, not all teams are blessed with team first guys like LeGarette Blount, Brandon LaFell, and Darrell Revis....
Just poking you. You know you would love Sherman or Lynch if they were on the Pats. We're all hypocrites. I LOATHED LeBron with every ounce of my being for exactly four years. But now, he changed his clothes and miraculously I love him again!

A fair response. It's also fair to ask how many times Blount, LaFell or Revis have made headlines for running their mouths or off field issues while playing for the Patriots. Can you recall any?

Not that the Patriots are a bunch of angels mind you. I know they are not, I completely understand why other people dislike them (with that being said, they are not the evil organization they are made out to be either) .

I was surprised to see the incredulous responses to the suggestion that SEA was one of the least liked teams. I thought they were reviled by many. I guess that says more about me than anyone else.

I know you're just having fun, as am I. I truly wish you & the Hawks luck. If NE loses, I hope it's at least a close, well played game.

    Cheers.

I don't have a ton of respect for the beast.

Here's a player that was almost out of the league with substance and behavioral issues, gets a second chance, resurrects himself, and now acts like an idiot again.

He plays well, but his character is questionable to say the least.

Sherman and lynch are players that a lot of people hate. Sherman for his arrogance and lynch for his dumb ass "interviews" and celebratory td poses.
I think the pats are like the Yankees: people are jealous of their success.

I'm actually a Browns fan, so my season ends in September every year. That's really convenient so I don't have any stressful Sundays. Thank God for the Buckeyes.
But that's why I was surprised that you said people hate the Seahawks. To me, they are just on a good run lately.

Well Belichick gives some irritating interviews and Lynch just does the handshake now. Perhaps he is reformed? But like I said earlier, if any of them were on your team (including Beli'cheat'), then you love them. It's the natural hypocrisy of sports.
**Disclaimer** I hate Johnny Football more today than when the Browns drafted him. And I'll continue to hate him until he's good. Then I'll just hate him less.

That explains it. You just seemed a bit too Ohio in your football response. Not many people who aren't from Ohio are really digging any sports team from here right now.
