DischordVisionDischordVision SEAttle by way of WNY Posts: 532
I came home today 12/18, and discovered my PJ enamel mug set package broken into w/ the contents stolen.

The property mgmt in my apt bldg has contacted the local Post office here in West Seattle. We don't know yet what can be done.
I hope I can get a refund from Ten Club or they can be replaced??

anyone else experiencing theft this holiday season??

Does your apartment complex have a package room that all packages are left in? That sounds like an issue with your apartment complex and the police, and not 10 club.

just a front area for mailboxes.

no I've read in the past Ten Club has followed suit against ticket scalpers/merch on ebay...

Hope everything works out. Seems like there are a ton of flippers out there. Dont know if the 10c has the resources to even put a dent in flippers. Even if someone gets caught I would imagine they already have a way around to get back in the fan club. Ive found that you will get better "deals" through other fan club members.

What I was getting at, is any competent apartment/condo complex will have package areas under video surveillance in case packages are opened or outright stolen. I guess if you talked to them already though, that didn't come up?

Either way, good luck and it's sad how people do stuff like this (especially at Christmas).

Saw your post on the blog, wondered if it was pj related...sorry that happened to you (btw, hello neighbor!)

Have a PO box (mainly for my business) , but started sending all my stuff there since there have been so many thefts. Kinda wonder why you don't have a managers office to hold and sign for packages to prevent stuff like that.

I just discovered it on Ebay ! WTF ! $135 for 2 mugs! i wish the 10C could do something against these swindlers...I don't know but...if only they could, let us dream...
Some fuckers just buy the items here to re-sell them somewhere ....I'm a very big fan but not desesperate to waste all my money in 2 (absolutely beautiful) mugs ! And i prefer to give my money to the 10c than to someone else i don't even know...

Sorry to hear about your mugs, that really sucks.

As for ebay, I learned to ignore it a long time ago. Its useless getting working up about it and just because there is a buy it now price for $135 doesn't mean they will actually sell.

I recently received in the mail a damp, empty box from my brother in Texas.
It originally contained a homemade candle he sends each family member every Christmas.
Evidently, the box became rain soaked along the way and the candle just slipped out somewhere.
Maybe your package was damaged in transit?
It seems unlikely to me that a thief would risk taking the time to open a USPS mailed package (a federal crime) and then remove two seemingly low value coffee mugs.
Kind of hard to carry two coffee mugs incognito - wouldn't a thief just take the whole box?
    Just my two cent deduction.
    Sorry for your loss.

    damn.
I just went home on my lunch break and noticed someone had stolen my mail out of my mailbox.
I need to check and make sure that they didn't get my Vault vinyl.
It is a shocking feeling when you realize that some fuck had the balls to take your stuff right out of your mailbox.

Amazon has been resending products to customers that have been getting their orders stolen.

Actually it is highly likely the package was opened and items taken. Package theft is high right now, especially in the W. Seattle area, many people are swiping packages from doorsteps, going around the corner to open, then taking the item and leaving the box on the street (leaving 'evidence'). It's not like people are gonna ask every apartment resident "is that *your* mail?"
Seriously, one jewelry store here has been broken into twice in one week.
The police basically don't do anything, so people are more brave to swipe shit.

There's always a lot more theft around this time, including mail theft.

    WTF!!! Some people's kids!

I would call the local post office or the entity that delivered it and ask if your particular mail delivery guy/gal reported it to their supervisor - it's beyond me that someone would deliver an empty box but stranger things have happened.

Good luck OP. I didn't order mugs or I'd share!
Oh please let it rain today.

Had someone once, must have been the post office staff, tear open a package of mine and take the contents (chocolates sent from my Mom in England) out and replace with a book. Bizarre.
These things happen. Definitely not something 10C is responsible for. Would be funny if someone in your apartment complex was walking down the hall drinking a cup of coffee out of one of those mugs.

If they reimburse you for the mugs, then they should reimburse me, and everyone else, for all the things that go "missing". Know what I mean....

I was just watching the news here, and there was a story of criminals that were opening packages, stealing the items, taping the boxes back shut, and leaving them back on the doorsteps!! Thieves are the fucking WORST!! So sorry you're going through this..

No, I wouldn't ask 10C to replace items stolen from your building. That's not their responsibility. But If the postal carrier left a package out where anyone could get at it, then the post office should do something. They should not be leaving packages out where anyone can take them - that's ridiculous. I've had them leave albums outside my apartment leaning against the door in the hallway. That pisses me off. What suggests to them that everyone who lives in my building is honest and trustworthy??? Just leave a pick-up notice and bring it to the post office where it will be safe!

Why would they bother doing that?? Why not save some time and effort and take the whole package? They must be the dumbest thieves of all time.

They did that with my mom's laptop a couple days ago. I came back from grocery shopping and there was a stack of packages leaning on my door. I was only gone an hour. It was four boxes, two were medical supplies, one was an electric heater and the laptop was on top.
Actually now that I think of it they did that with my very expensive "Ultrabook" laptop last year. And that was in a packaging that made it obvious what it was!
