Questions regarding selling PJ Vinyl

Bogey ManBogey Man Newfoundland Posts: 118
Hey,

I don't use this forum a lot but I'm looking to possibly part with some or all of my vinyl. Now, I know there are no auctions, so THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION. If I do look to sell, I'll post prices. My question is that, I would like to sell it all in one batch. Not divided. Is that even possible? And would shipping be astronomical (I live in Canada)? Here's what I have:
Ten, Vs, Vitalogy - re-releases.
No Code, Yield, Live on Two Legs, Backspacter, Live on Ten Legs, Lightening Bolt, PJ 20 Set, Vault #3,
Xmas singles '96 - present.

While not a huge collection, it's not bad. If I'm looking to get out of vinyl, then I'm looking to get rid of all of it. I just don't want to fool with individual sales. I know there is a market for some of these albums, but not all of them, so maybe getting rid of the whole batch would be impossible?

Thanks

Getting rid of all of them would be possible but you might not get the best price for them if you go this route as the person buying would likely have to sell duplicates. I would try to sell as a lot first though and see if you get any bites.

    If not;

Bundle Ten Vs Vitalogy Backspacer Lightning Bolt together sell to someone new to the hobby or Pearl Jam.

Sell No Code, Yield, Vault 3 and PJ20 seperately.

Bundle Live on 2 Legs and Live on 10 legs.

Sell the 96-2004 xmas singles to me, bundle the rest and sell them.

Thanks for the input. Separating into bundles is definitely an option. It's all very preliminary. Hopefully someone from Canada can also hop on here and give me some tips about shipping within or out of Canada. I bought a lot of these through this community so if I do sell, I'd like them to stay within this community.

Shipping to the US is faster and cheaper than shipping to Canada in a lot of cases. I wouldn't worry about shipping to the US at all, the problems occur going the other way - shipping from the US into Canada. The market is much bigger also, the potential for finding a deal is increased dramatically if you include the US.

Cool, thanks for the input TinAnt. I've bought lots of stuff, but never sold so your feedback is appreciated.

Sorry ZH227544, I can't discuss prices yet. I'll probably set-up a separate post for that.

When I got into vinyl I bought all mine in a set that was ten thru avocado including live on 2 legs and it was a slick transaction....got it for cheap as hell too compared to what they go for today!!

So it might be hard to find someone to buy the whole lot and might take some time cause most people have most of what u do have but u could find someone who is just starting that might be interested.....good luck!
Cant buy what i want cause its free....

I think bundles would work the best for you. I'll look for your next post with amounts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll just need to figure out the best way to ship out of Canada.

I won't post until after Xmas, this is a hard time of year for shipping and spending.

Hey mate, shipping out of Canada is expensive but doable. Best way is to figure out the cutoff weights and dimensions using the website. Main thing is make sure you pack it well as insurance can be a joke. They'll take your money, it adds up, but getting it back isn't easy. You have to read the fine print. A lot of things aren't covered and you won't just get back what you mark as the value. They want receipts and they value things differently. It can pretty much be a scam. I've had one claim and it didn't work out very well.
That being said, if you're in BC i could probably pick up :))

if you sell it in one lot make sure you use a solid box, double walled if possible. Wrap the records in thick bubble wrap secured with tape in groups of 2 or 3 records. If they are opened I would suggest buying plastic sleeves to put the records in, and place them in between the gatefold, not in the album cover as this will stop any seem splits, take lots of clear photos and send them to the buyer before posting and finally make sure it is insured. There is well over $1000 worth of records there you need to protect yourself, whoever buys it won't mind the extra postage cost, if they do I'd look for another buyer.
I brought a whole collection years ago, and they guy used a shitty well used previous box that split on 3 of the 4 corners during postage, the records made it somehow, but I was lucky. Remember the box will tumble around on converor belts, the back of trucks and go through many sets of hands once they leave yours and is quite possible treated not very nicely.

I'm in Canada too, but not as close as Mitch. It would be nice to not pay the ridiculous over the border prices for once.
