happened to me with into the wild - but it wasnt marked fragile -- was folder over (it takes some force to fold a record in half) and shoved in my mailbox ...

my friend had his No Jeremy single folded in a similar manner. 10club was nice enough to replace it

but there is a special place in hell for the bastards that do this to records.

I am constantly paranoid about my stuff in the mail/courier system. I have had pretty good luck with it, but these horror stories, especially with USPS, keep me worried with every purchase!!

Heart breaking. What a bunch of crap. Hope your insurance comes through. It's so ridiculous how sometimes the last possible step (putting it in the mailbox) is what gets some stuff. I love (hate) when photo mailers have PHOTOS DO NOT BEND and they stuff them in the box. This is worse because it seems like that would be really difficult to bend that much. Like somebody was TRYING to fuck it up.

That really sucks! I just paid a chunk of change for the 1st issue of Ten and it came mangled in the mail. I wish I new someone with the sleeve in decent shape.

And of course, mail innovations doesn't offer the automatic $50 insurance like regular USPS priority packages do.

USPS sent my record to a whole different state- WTF??
They blamed it on the machine that does the sorting.
They said I will have it by tomorrow. not gonna hold my breath.

To add to the USPS incompetence, I bought a copy of Deftones Adrenaline on pink vinyl from ebay. It shipped 12/10. No tracking updates since 6am Sunday. Been sitting in Bell Gardens, CA for 4 days. Fucker better get here before Xmas and better not be crushed to bits!

When I send vinyl in the mail, I always write Fragile on it too. But I also add "Please do not bend. Thank you very much" orsometimes "Vinyl record inside, please do not bend, thank you" in hopes that people will be gentle because I said thank you... And even if it doesn't say fragile or breakable or whatever. Why would you bend something that does not feel bendable to the point where you can hear a crack?! Especially when you are a mail person. And for chrissake, the shape of a record mailer does not really leave a lot of room to the imagination as to what is in it, doesn't it? If people deliberately destroy stuff like that, they are just plain dick heads. The worst with things like that is not just that now you have all the hassle with the insurance but you also have to locate another copy for a good price. This whole situation just sucks. I hope you get it resolved.
