PJ PLEASE change up the set list

I know it's been said before, but I don't recall a tour that the band has played the same songs over and over again...starting with the post-letterman show. I used to love being suprised by not knowing what TAG ED would attach to any song, but it seems like he's doing the same tags, that is if he chooses to, to the same songs. Hopefully, by the time they came back and play MSG in lat November or December we can accept new Vedder poem's or cool cover's.

BTW: No one has the balls to say this to you except the waves.

    Have you not seen the setlists? Are you sure you are not looking at another tour? Hmmmm... Let's see... A different tag every night vs. Satans Bed, Leash, Hard To Imagine, Garden, Why Go etc..

    I think they are changing it up every night. Tags are not as important to me as a bunch different songs.

    I agree with the poster, in a way. I know the band can (and will) play whatever they want when they want to, but it seems that Life Wasted, WWS, and Severed Hand are almost always within the first 5 songs or so. I miss the days where they'd play Go, Brain of J, Last Exit, Corduroy, Breakerfall, etc. in those early slots. I still want to hear the new ones live, but I wish they'd start showing up at different parts of the set instead of being kind of predictable.

    Just my $.02. The band can do whatever they want and I'll be happy, but in a perfect world....

    Yes, it did. And WWS has been played a little later once or twice. I just mean as a general rule, I've watched the setlists live as they happen and I have felt like I can almost predict when they're gonna play those songs. Now that I think about it, I guess we can do the same with Evenflow usually in the 6-7 slot, last tour with Save You usually being 2-4, and with Porch or RVM usually finishing the first set.

    No big deal---just something I had noticed.

    I too have seen PJ 31 times since their inception and this by far is the most preditable tour since 94 for me. I love the new record and was hoping we would have a continuation of their live show from 00, 03, 04. The constant sing-a-long's to me are sophmoric and old. Sing-a-longs are meant for when you are in your basement or with a few friends or a U2 show. Since 96 they were evolving in the right direction live and now this tour seems to be taking a step back. Will always love and support this band and continue to see them but so far the three shows I have been to this year have been the most disappointing I have probably ever seen by them.

    Forums are great for two things: children to feel like their voices are getting heard, and oh yeah to find some meaningful information on occassion too.

    I think the thing that has changed the most about Pearl Jam is that at some point a lot of their fans turned into whiny little bitches.

    Pearl Jam (and probably U2) are the greatest bands of our generations and you guys are trying to taint that somehow. The 2 shows I went to on this tour were amazing, and I can't imagine being in a band's club that gives you first dibs on tickets, treats you right and puts out consistently great albums, and then you bitch and moan about every little thing. Change your setlist for me. Don't do tickets by seniority for me. Change your song tags Eddie for me. Wear a different shirt for me.

    Damn, listen to yourselves. Have you EVER seen a band play before? Guess what, when you're playing 30-40 songs a night (which not every band does on a tour) there's gonna be some overlap. Don't you whiny bitches ever sleep?

    Oh, and your opinion doesn't matter. ;-)

    OMG, name me a band, current or past, that diligently changes up the set list like Ed does. They are obviously going to play x # of new songs, a few more "hits" than in 2003, since there are a ton more casual fans attending in 2006. Even so, they change up the standards so they differ from the records. Attend the three nights in San Francisco, where I am pretty sure they will play a number of songs which have alluded the set list so far.

    You've got to be kidding me that they aren't mixing it up. On the 1st leg of the tour they played 16 dates in under a month and played 92 different songs. Name me one band in the history of music that has played a live show with that many different songs.... in less than 30 days, on 16 dates. Come on.....name anyone. You can't do it.

    To see it in print is sweet. 92 different songs over 17 dates. No complaints from me and can't wait for my next show! Sorry to all the complainers.

    To try name a band that has done that, I think Bob Dylan did or has come close. Now I have not gone through the gauntlet of his set lists over all the years, but just a quick check showed 74 songs over 13 dates from 8/10/01-8/25/01.

    Just trying to name someone. Maybe the Stones have done it?

    Very nice nycpjfan! Way to show the dummies that they have no idea what they're talking about! All this talk of the same setlists is just silly...of course they're gonna play the new stuff every night, they're touring in support of the new album. Its the same way they've always done it!

    For all the complainers, just look at the setlist from Cincy...its pretty generic in my opinion, but none of the first three songs were from the new album (Long Road, Save You, Hail Hail)...did any of you predict that? I seriously doubt it? 92 different songs in 16 shows if frickin ridiculous! Rock on PJ!!!

    the thread starter got his ass handed to him....ive been to 5 shows so far.... and have been amazed with each one......only really repeats i have been hearing are the songs off the new album...which would make sense since they are touring in support of it....... cant wait till san diego!

    I saw them in Cincy the other night and the sing-alongs were a a bit- i mean WAY- too much. I would rather hear ED sing Present Tense, IMO...

    I agree with about everything you said. I think the Yield tour '98 was the best tour by far. Aint seen anything since like the Seattle July 22-23 shows at Memorial Stadium summer '98.

    Cincy & Pittsburgh were pretty different.

    The only songs they play from night to night would be 5-6 songs from the new album (well, that makes sense), and around the same amount between Alive, Corduroy, Evenflow, Daughter, Betterman, Porch, Black, Given To Fly, Do The Evolution, Small Town, and Rearviewmirror.

    It seems that all the jamily likes to talk about lately is how the shows they have been at are better the ones that you were not at. It's almost kind of snobby. Every show is different, fun and we all become part owners of the experience. Whether you saw them a Soldier Field in '95 or The Borgata late last year. It's all PJ and it is all good people...I personally think this tour has been played with the same emotion as the yield tour and I am sure they are going to rock it out at Summerfest. Share your experiences and be thankful damn it!!!

    Well said. I've been fortunate enough to see some amazing and special shows throughout the years(95 New Orleans and San Diego, 96 Randalls, 98 MSG, not to mention Irving Plaza and Storytellers this year) and I have to tell you, my favorite of the 30+ shows i've seen has to be State College in 03. I couldn't really put into words why, I just felt it. It's really such a personal thing.

    i have been to 5 shows and it seems like the guys are putting everything they have into everyshow....i have no complaints at all besides my seats at pittsburgh didnt allow me to stand up...i had to sit down the whole show so i could see the stage....and im thankful that i have been lucky enough to experience this band so many times.....I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND

    I have been to 9 shows this tour, and as much as i love every one of them, and as crazy as i go whenever the band is playing, they COULD change it up much more. You can show me as many lists as you want with how many songs have been played this tour. But the fact is the shows are getting similar. At the Pittsburgh show, i was actually able to predict during the first encore break that next up would be Wasted Reprise into Man Of The Hour. Now, I love Wasted Reprise. And I love Man Of The Hour... but those 2 songs have been the opening of the 2nd encore at 4 of the last 6 shows i have been to. Its almost always predictable that Alive will finish off the 2nd set.

    Another thing that i found odd was that both Continental shows opened with the same 3 songs. Has that ever happenned before with PJ?

    I know that each show is different, and i know PJ changes up the set every night.. but it really could be alot more varied. Do The Evolution gets played every night.. but where is Brain Of J? Faithfull? MFC? Yield needs more representation! As does Binaural (Gods Dice, Of The Girl, Parting Ways, Thin Air, Breakerfall!!!, Insignificance all getting little to no attention this tour).

    Best 2 shows I think i have seen this tour (not counting Irving Plaza) are Albany & Pittsburgh.

    With that said.. CANT FUCKING WAIT TILL THE GORGE

    I can agree with this piece, yeah .... I mean, is Brain of J a tricky song to play or something? Always one of my live favorites and its majorly overdue. Where is Breakerfall (once a staple), and In My Tree? And why does Release have to open so many shows? I liked the song better when it was somewhat rare.

    Anyhow, its still hard to bitch too much, though. I am into Radiohead right now as well, and while they are playing 13 or so new songs, most of which are very good, the rest of their set is incredibly predictable, to the point where I need to come back to this site to see how its really done. PJ is at the very pinnacle of setlist diversity, they really are. Sure, we can always want more, and there's still a whole pile of songs that I am waiting for, but damn. A thread title like this one is ridiculous.

    28 songs

    120 minutes

    1st encore starts with Wishlist and is 4 songs long

    2nd encore is only YL

    How the people would MOAAAAAAAAAN if that show happened today, eh?
