U2 Tour

About 20-25 years ago I would be really psyched about U2 touring but this is a band I no longer know. I'm sure tickets are going to be super expensive and we would be lucky if they play 4 songs from albums prior to Joshua Tree (would love if they played Unforgettable Fire or War all the way through). The whole thing with releasing their latest album for free on iTunes was just strange. It made it seems they were ashamed of it and didn't want to charge anyone for it. I know Bono has done a lot of good for the world (AIDS, Amnesty International...) but it's hard to taken him seriously anymore. Is this too harsh?

I guess what I'm really saying is they are no Pearl Jam (and they were my favorite band back in the early 80's).

Ticket prices will range from $65 to $280, depending on the market, with a limited number of $30 tickets also being available.

They probably have 30 seats per venue at $30 to say they have seats at all price levels

On the last tour the GA were the cheapest tickets I thought.

We are going to try to have a completely different feeling from night one to night two,” said Bono, “and have some fun playing with the idea of innocence and experience. More to be revealed!”

That can be promising. Interesting that GA are cheap. Those will go instantly.

I totally agree only I would take it back 32 years to when I saw them at the Civic Auditorium in San Francisco for the War tour. That was a great show- the band was passionate about what they had to say about the bloodshed in Ireland and and their anti-war, anti-nationalist stance and they went out and played hard. And there wasn't a lot of big overblown glitzy stage design bullshit. Just the band, their gear and some lights. Great show that was!

GA is the way to see this band. The reserved seats on the wings are the super expensive ones but GA was about $75 last time out.

Last tour, in giant stadiums, g.a. were $50 plus fees.
This time around, in much smaller arenas, g.a. seem to be around $85 plus fees.
  • GA is around $70 here in europe for the U2 tour this time.
    Pretty good price!

Yeah... I graduated HS in 91. I didn't like U2 much in HS because I thought they were soft. I was listening to DRI, Dead Milkmen, Fugazi, Metallica, Anthrax, etc., along with Zep and classic rock. This was all before Seattle. Then as I went to college, I grew up a bit and thought Achtung was pretty damn good, then went back to the old albums. Now for me, I think Joshua was the best album of the 80's. But to the original OPs point, this band today is so different and has been since Pop. I haven't seen them in 20 years. Are they worth seeing? Will they go back to Boy, Unforgettable, etc?
  • GA in the UK (London shows) is £64 (inc booking fees) £55 face value. This is approx $100 with booking fees.

What some here need to remember is that rock bands or just about any musical band is that these bands make most of there money now by touring and the merchandising from touring. I saw U2 3 times on the 360 Tour and I bought tickets $55 @ Fed Ex Field MD on the floor, same in Tampa and $60 in Miami upper center.

For a major act that year that price was beyond reasonable. ACDC the same year cheapest seat $100. The way things are in the coming future is that if you can get tickets under $100 you've got a great deal.

No, did not. I like some of the stuff on that record. Without the frills, I'm guessing those were some good shows. Did you go?

I have never seen U2 and if Bono keeps riding his bike as well as he does this might be the last chance to do so.

I'm looking forward to it. I really don't care much for anything off their last 2-3 albums but I do want to see them at least once. And I was surprised too as my assumption of insane ticket prices was very inaccurate. I bought $90 tickets. I don't need to be beside Bono on stage but "decent" seats to see (arguably) one of the greatest bands ever is a price I don't mind one bit paying.
