What did Eddie mean?
We all love it when Eddie talks to us at the shows, and usually it seems like everyone is on the same page as him... but once in a while he says stuff that just don't seem to make complete sense to everyone.
) Or, to me, at least. So here's a thread where we can figure it out or see if anyone else can explain exactly what he was getting at! Could be more of an incomprehensible statement, or one that makes sense but we want to get to the root of it.
So I'll start. The first statement that comes to my mind is something he said at the Vancouver 2013 show. I got most of it, but there is one part where I thought, "Huh??" So does anyone understand what he meant here?
Eddie to crowd, First Encore Break: "May I propose a toast? Um, you know, I - We - We see bands, you know. We go and see shows and I see shows, and we see club shows, we see bigger shows, I've seen some stadi-- You know, and one thing I always-- it's kind of easy to pick up on, and it makes me a little crazy, and I wouldn't want to be, uh... I wouldn't want to be, uh... *graahh*... guilty of it myself, but I gotta tell ya, you make a bunch of guys who are in a group feel so fucking good to have this opportunity to play music. It's very unusual, and it's not lost on us for a second. Thanks to everyone in the back.... etc etc etc."
:-/ I mean, of course I get the general gist, which was lovely - the vibe at that show was amazing, and we all felt it. So yeah, obviously that's what he's talking about, which is awesome. But what's that part about being guilty of it himself? What makes him crazy? I don't get it. :P

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata

It seems to me he alludes to this theme quite frequently without actually saying it. In fact I sometimes get the impression that he wants to gush even more about the crowd but he is genuinely fearful that it won't be taken as "real". As big and famous as he is, he just seems so happy and thankful that he is where he is and would like to express it to the fans. Sometimes it's like he is pinching himself.
Buy its SO IMPORTANT that he acknowledges this when he feels it and talks about it because - however it comes out - it is about an energy that the world needs very very very fucking badly right now.
The place you come from will always be felt Ed.
steer us towards the clear here
I know it's already been sung
but it can't be said enough
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
I do have this bootleg and can remember thinking when I first listened. What did he just say??
That is just my take on it, but I'm probably completely wrong as the other ideas sound right too.
He's been in the audience and understands the love he's given and is touched and appreciates getting it. Doesn't take it for granted.
I love this band.
