I tried, but that was awful. Mostly the vocals/lyrics... not my thing.

I used to watch this a lot. Wish I'd gone when the tour came through Toronto, but didn't know who the backing band was until afterwards. Truthfully I didn't love that album, but still sould have been cool to see live.

Also, Jon Stewart used to have the coolest musical guests. As much as I love his show, a part of me misses his old format.

I love this video, and I love the song. . . .I also love the album. Not every song is a hit, there are plenty of home runs on it.

I'm also disappointed I missed this tour, 94 & 95 are when I really started going to shows frequently, and this one would have been awesome to see.

A few things: the song was hideously horrible. I hate the constant finger slide on pats guitar. Eddie seemed uncomfortable. I forgot how good Dave Grohl is on the drums.
  • still love it.

20 years on, it's interesting to note that Mike Watt broke a fucking bass string during the song. That takes some aggression, kids. Something you really don't see on Tv show appearances.

I think that tour/album was probably huge for EV in reminding him how things could be done. PJ was such a monster thing at that time. Get in the van, small club shows, get back in the van, next city.

    cheers

I broke an e string playing bass with my friends a few years ago, I felt like a badass!

I think I prefer this version to any PJ one....IMO. At least I know I've listened to this version more than any Pj one.

I wonder if the whole show was pro shot. I think I remember this being played on much music years ago. Did you happen to find against the 70 s?

There's a great video on YouTube from the Chicago show of the tour...might be the whole show but I definitely remember the Daniel Johnston cover Walking the Cow, Chinese Firedrill, and maybe Against the 70s. Good shit.
