I lost my work benefits when I made the decision to go back to school and work less. The cost of my work sponsored plan had gone way up after the ACA which is a drawback. However, I have been able to get a more affordable plan through the market place. My brother is a diabetic in college and the ACA has eliminated hundreds of dollars a month in medical costs for him. It seems I've heard a number of good and bad things. Hopefully they can keep fine tuning it until it helps more people than it hurts.
That's it. It needs refinement and happy for all to put in their input.
And RR's frustration of him having to pay for his employees healthcare taking real PJ concert traveling money out if his pocket just reinforces thought that we should break tie between healthcare and employers.
It should be separate, but not sure about the f-rr-ustration comment - he takes good care of his employees and knowing what I know of him, guessing if he made that comment somewhere, it was somewhat tongue-in-cheek.
I thought part of the ACA was that big pharma had to stop spending money on advertising and spend it on r&d instead? I still see fucking pill commercials out the ass!

Oh how you mis read what I said cal.I have paid my employees insurance for over decade.100%. I do it because I want the best for my people.I also pay them extremely well way over my industry standards and give them Benny's out the ass. Spending my tour $ on the well being of those who give so much for me is a no brainer. And I have always advocated for taking care of those that take care of you.ai also pay most sick days of my employees. But my Wife and I make that decision. My point is I don't need the govt mandating it.If I have an employee who is not working hard, fucking off, coming in late a lot and leaving early. Then no sick day pay.that simple. You want to seperate the employer/employee insurance deal.Fine.Whats your solution.

You're a good man RR.
Too bad you are in the minority, otherwise we wouldn't need legislation to keep shitty employers in-line.
health care is needed for sure but this obama care is a mess and devided between politions and the general plubic, why don't government officals want obama care for thier own familys ?
Godfather.
Have a loved one that signed up and has insurance for first time. Payments reasonable and dr visits went great. And she's actually paying into the system
Another friends life probably saved cause he's getting care for his bladder cancer. He had blood in urine and would of just sucked it up till pain so bad too late and expensive ER visit.
Obama care gives me the option of leaving my employer and still get decent coverage even with preexisting conditions. Very liberating.
Obama care is a success.
I had a friend that I knew from when I was six months old. He woke up one morning in May pissing blood. Didn't have health insurance so he didn't go to the doctor as he was going through a divorce at the time and the soon to be ex was really sticking it to him with a restraining order, accusations of violating said restraining order, all the while living in his apartment in a three family house. By the time he saw a doctor in August of that same year, his bladder cancer was too aggressive to be treated. On July 16th of this year, it'll be ten years since he passed. I can only think what might be had the Clinton's health plan act or some version of it had been passed in 1993-1994. I'm sure others may do so as well.

Not sure how this came out wrong. was attempting to simply say if healthcare wasn't tied to employers you'd have more bucks to see PJ. Maybe it was the word "frustration" that I added for impact that may not actually be the case. Humor fail.

no...the insurance companies have to spend 80% of their expenses on health care....pharmaceutical companies aren't insurance companies

So, is StummeyCare or North Charleston Care as bad, worse or needs work? Should their city council vote 58 times to overturn it? Just wondering.
What does this mean?
I find it ironic or perhaps the height of hypocrisy that the mayor of North Charleston and the city council of a city in a heavily republican state decided to continue the health insurance coverage of their fired police officer, after he shot an unarmed black motorist in the back five times for fleeing because of a tail light being out, because his wife is 8 months pregnant. Where's the republican outrage?
I would hope people wouldn't be angry about this. It certainly isn't the wife's fault. I haven't heard any of my republican co-worker complaining about this.
She needs to pull herself up by her bootstraps and get a job. Can't have a freeloading society full of Leeches.
Just think if a teacher got charged for murder and their family continued to get benefits. The outrage!

Right, but the ACA is a huge bill with hundreds, if not thousands of provisions. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that pharmaceutical companies were to reallocate advertising money to r&d to help drive down the cost of health care in the long run. Perhaps it wasn't in the final draft that passed into law. Which wouldn't surprise me.
Rather than start a new thread reviving this one. Do think decision by Supreme Court was big. Great speech by Obama afterwards. Agree.
Will be very interesting to see how this affects pres election.
Also did Supreme Court majority vote on law or public interest. Not convinced it was at law siding with republicans but glad it turned out this way. Will read majority and opposing write ups shortly.
It's an improvement but it's like saying that Hangover 3 is better than part 2. It's still heavily flawed and needs single payer. DINObama=worst socialist ever.
If we can keep the good parts and improve or throw out the bad, then I think we may have AHC act that ALL of us can support. We must do something about the Criminal costs of medications and the fleecing of the the paying public by the drug companies
If Congress can tell Big Pharma to go fuck themselves and mandate via tweak to medicare law allowing the government to negotiate prices it would go a long way to reigning in some costs. Aslo good to note most of these companies are foreign owned and operated.
