Came out great man! Glad I had your missing piece!
Absolutely! Thanks a bunch again!

That looks awesome! I do it myself as well, did the Milwaukee one. Went to Hobby Lobby, they cut the mats for me. The frames were on sale at 50% off that week. Hardly cost anything. Although I did have them do the Cracker Jack Wrigley field one, looks nothing like that.
Thanks! I like to be the test case for people to prove that you can do some high-end framing and it doesn't have to cost you a paycheck. Some of these places definitely take advantage of people thinking the ONLY way to go is the highest price of EVERYTHING, and that's not the case.
This piece uses a $40 frame on sale for $20, regular glass with a coupon for $21, and acid-free mats and mounting. Sure, you can use crazy-expensive mats ... but those are just as acid-free as the ones I used in this for $14 each with the fee for cutting them. Doing the triple matting takes it up the next level and added $14 to my total cost. Doing the cathedral cut for the sticker opening added $4 to my cost, but really helped the thing stand out. Off-setting the secondary items in shadow-box style cost me an extra $2.50 in mat board, but is another way to make something look different from the norm. And doing those tire treads? That cost me a $2.99 thing of brown paint, a $15 toy tractor that I gave to my framer guy for his son (and to avoid having to wash the paint off the tires!), and about 10 minutes of my time.
The one area that I would start considering spending the extra on is to do museum glass instead of regular glass. For a 24x36 piece, with my Hobby Lobby coupon, it would cost $72. That's $51 more than my regular glass, but man ... such a massive difference.
When my Cincinnati job wraps up in 10 days or so, it won't be QUITE as cool as this one, but what I came up with I think was pretty decent to make that one stand apart from the pack a little, too. And the price on that one? Yup. About $120.
Yet if you march it into some of these places without an idea of what you wanna do, or what your options are, you're going to get a quote for $350, double-matted, and just one giant square, or a couple boring rectangles for your secondary items.
I suppose it also helps that when I take stuff in for Hobby Lobby to cut mats for and to mount for me, I have a good relationship with them and they actually appreciate that someone's coming in caring about what they're doing. We work together on mat colors, I ask their opinions on openings and what we can do, things like that. And then I take them Olive Garden gift certificates so they can get a free lunch across the street once in a while to thank them for their help. I find that helps them remember that my stuff is worth them going the extra mile for.

Looks great! Ironically while looking for people selling posters I came across this thread not long after I noticed @PearlJam retweeted you regarding this poster:
I love Hobby Lobby for framing too and just received my Moline poster in the mail. I think I might get the same frame. That reclaimed wood looks really cool. Gonna take different mats though. For my taste, there's also a little much brown in there, not one of my fave colours. But well done
Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue!
Is that a actual official set list or a copy? If a copy how does one go about getting one? The wood frame is just perfect in every way. Best PJ Framing I have ever seen.
@JW44563 Yeah ... the PJ official RT was a huge highlight. And it was crazy, because I sent that tweet out last Tuesday, the day the Moline poster dropped at the site and the day the bootleg went on sale. So they found it eight days later. Crazy.
@Leezestarr313 That reclaimed barn wood ... I never thought I'd ever have a framing project that would go in my house that would call for that. Frankly, I always hated it. Then while driving to Moline for the show, I saw the tweet go out with the picture of the poster for that night and I knew that's exactly what I would be using for the frame job. The brown outer mat ... I was going to go with black, but when the idea for the tire tracks came about, I knew it would work better on the brown. It worked on the black, too, but the difference in color was too noticeable, and I think it would have detracted from the poster itself. As it is now, the tire tracks seem very organic to me. I used to do everything black upper mat, and then I'd match the colors of the poster for the second mat, or second and third. But now I'm at the point where I'm willing to have a color I'm not in love with if it seems to make the most sense with the poster. Heck, I didn't want to have the John Deere colors because I'm a Bears fan, and those are Packers colors! But that's what the project needed, so ... so be it. Good luck with yours!
@datfly1 Definitely not the official set list. After each show, the official PJ Twitter and Instagram accounts send them out. They are then compiled at this site: http://pearljamsetlists.tumblr.com/ I then take them and do some work in Photoshop with them, basically selecting the paper background and deleting it so it's pure white — that allows me to have a much cleaner copy when I print it. I then print it on some heavy card stock instead of photo paper. I did the same thing with my frame jobs for Cincinnati and St. Paul.

I think that your framing looks awesome and is very nicely tied together. The idea with the tire tracks is super cool! I didn't want to diminish what you did. but I would feel awkward just copying it Maybe we will go with some of the other colours in the poster, instead of the brown. Black might be too odd, you are right about that. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it. I put it into the flat file for now until the muses are kissing me

No worries on copying mine, @Leezestarr313 ... I've given my blessing to many others on that. In fact, I had quite a few offers on the table of people who wanted to send me all their stuff and pay me good money to play middleman to make sure theirs was done the way mine is. (Unfortunately, shipping nightmares kept me out of that game.) I just like the thought of people thinking more outside the box with their framing jobs, rather than just slapping it into a frame. If people see my Moline and decide to raise the bar, that's awesome!
