check the new one dude, its a complete beast.

Some say a return to form, which I cant really agree with as they never lost form IMO, but its definitely back to the harder punk roots sound, leaving the ska heavy more melody driven last few records behind. Still retains Tim's love of reggae though, and is unmistakable vocal deliveries. Its certainly back to the sound of the Lets Go and Wolves records, and whilst they will never make a record as perfect as Wolves again its a damn fine attempt.

  • I'm gonna be the Debbie Downer of this thread and say that I'm not a huge fan of what I've heard so far, which is only a couple of songs. The vocals, especially the harmonized gang vocals struck me as corny. And I absolutely love Rancid

Wondering what you have heard so far?

This record is awesome, very 'Rancid', so if you like their catalogue there is nothing at all to dislike here......they have even reverted to having the talking overlays that made Wolves so awesome.

There is a youtube video of the entire record playing whilst they drive around if you wanted to spend 32 minutes checking the whole lot out
  • I will have to check it out and give the whole record a shot. The songs I heard were the first 2 they released of the you tube videos

Ok collision course and evils my friend and honor is all we know were the three tracks on the youtube sampler.

This record may not be for you then, as I thought they were terrific old school Rancid, back with a bang.

Love the album opener too, but its much in the same vain, fast paced, layered vocals over a repeat chorus........the Tim slow down at the end fits like a glove though.

Overall I love the feel and pace of the record, the hooks and the little smattering of ska. a real fun piece of work, and I cant wait to see it live
  • I think the problem I had with it is that it's too clean sounding. I love gang vocals and harmonies, but I like my punk rock a little dirty, or a little less produced. I will still probably check em out in tour because they are a great live band

did you get chance to check it out yet?
  • No. Still haven't checked it out. I will have to plop myself down soon and do it, though. Now I'm curious

  • So, I actually sat down and gave the whole thing a listen, and it's not bad. I'm at about half and half. I dig about half of it right off the bat. I really like "Already Dead". There are still a few songs I still find a tad too generic. BUT my favorite Rancid record is Life Won't Wait, which most people hate, so what the hell do I know?

I haven't got around to getting this yet.

Would like to see them come back to the UK. I've seen them three times before, but nor almost a decade now.

yeah that was a previewed track and has that 'rancid sound'....

There are a few throwaway tracks or moments that don't work so well like 'everybodys suffering', 'face up' and one other I forget the title of, but on the whole I think its their most solid record for a long long time.
