Lack of energy at Philly II

Maybe it was because I was just coming off both Boston show, but the crowd last night seemed very sedate. Aside from the people in the first 2 rows the whole place looked like a bunch of Zombies until the second encore. It was such a downer. I was the only person jumping up and down and singing every song where I was sitting. And people looked like they were bothered by it. Mind you I was only about 20 rows back, everybody should have been rocking out. This was by far the weakest crowd of the 4 shows I've been to on this tour. In fact it was probably the weakest crowd of any PJ show I've been to. And the band really feeds off the crowd energy. It was like everytime they tried to get something going, the crowed just tried to smother them.

Philly gets too many shows, another spoiled jaded fan-base in Philly. 3 shows since last fall... 3 shows in 2003....

plenty of energy where i was (103)

Maybe in your row, but when I looked over, it was pretty much a sea of people just standing there. I was in 104, and it was the same story.
  • i was on the lawn on stone's side and taht was the best experience i have ever had while being on the lawn for any show. night one i was all the way in the back of the lawn and couldnt hear much. but last night was just amazing. i met a lot of cool people. and from my standpoint there was no lack of energy. maybe people should drink up.

    compared to Camden I,
Camden II was a fucking mosh pit.

Stryker has one thing right ... the first two rows were ON FIRE last night.
They really showed their passion ... something i can't say happened at Camden I ...

and the pit, in general, was showing a lot more enthusiasm ....

i don't know how many "season ticket" holders were at Camden I, but i do know that my tickets (and those of the guy who stayed next to me for both shows) moved up 2 rows and in towards the center for the second night.

I'm glad that Camden finally showed the band the full scope of their passion and let their energy flow back and forth with the band ...

Camden II was beautiful ... maybe no Spectrum '03 (crowd wise, but the set was better) ... but it was a lovely lovely evening. :D

I was sitting in the middle of section 202... the crowd rocked back there, lots of energy, however, neither Fanch or I could see shit night 2.

I was at both boston shows and both philly shows. Boston seemed louder because it was an arena. Plus they got a better setlist BOTH nights.

I am pretty much done with shows in Camden, shitty town, shitty venue, and greatest hits setlists.

I was in the middle of the lawn, and it didn't seem like people got into the show until the encores. Also, the sound was far more quiet than I was expecting. I have been in the lawn for a couple of other shows in other venues, and the band seemed to be much louder as opposed to last night.

well this goes back to my point that you cant see a band like pearl jam on the lawn...camden is not a friendly spot for pearl jam hopefully in the future they stick with the center or spectrum

I was on the lawn for night 1 and agree that the sound could have been louder.......and they need to fix the piece of shit green jumbo screen.

Camden 2 was unbelievable. I thought the crowd was excellent. In fact, I thought it was a better crowd than night 1

I thought the show was great last night, a lot of personal highlights. But someone should have told Pearl Jam that they almost interupted the Chess match in section 203. Lets go Fans its a rock concert not a Tea Party!!!!!!

You should have joined the 10c in 2000 Jen! You would have had ~104 row T seats. The crowd was kinda lame there though. I'm partly to blame I suppose because I brought a non pj fan with me to try to convert. That never works. I should have learned my lesson.

I had amazing seats both nights thanks to the ten club and my friend shoetheshoeless.

Saturday night 4th row in front of Mike there was hardle any movement infront of me in the first few rows - until the 2nd encore. There were lots of season ticket holders and it was a really lame crowd upfront.

From the opening notes of Wash last night, the front was on fire. I had 3rd row Stone's side and everyone was jumping and singing like madmen. The 4 girls behind me never stopped bouncing the entire show. Last night was the kind of crowd that should be upfront every PJ show and Stone kept acknowlding how nuts the front was by waving and nodding at us the entire night.

I cant speak for the lawn though but my section (202) was going fuckin crazy and the people up near the stage were fuckin great too....every song was a sing a long! i didnt feel like an idiot jumping up and down screaming the lyrics like i did in hartford, because most of the people in camden were doing the same!!

Agreed...I dont know what show these people were at last night but last nights show and crowd were fucking awesome! I think people just like to stir the pot and like taking shots at the Philly crowd to make their shows look better.

It was awesome talking to people who came to this weekends shows from across the country and hearing their reason for coming was, and I quote "We had to come to Philly, you Philly people do these shows right!"

    Fuck yeah we do!
