Made In America Bootleg?

Seen the boys 8 times. This was by far my favorite performance I saw from them. So what's the deal? They released the 99 Problems single, so I'm just curious if anyone knows anything? Even if it's a concrete no that the boot will ever be released. Maybe a from the vault someday? Band was just on fire that night from start to finish.

  • Well they certainly recorded the entire show because of the release of 99 Problems and Corduroy being featured in the documentary of the concert. It's not like they're gonna just record two songs from a set. I was there too. I wish there was at least an audience recording. It's one of the few shows over the past decade to have no recording at all. So yeah, maybe a vault thing someday. That'd be cool.

  • And even the 99 Problems audio track sounds amazing! I just am so upset I can't hear the rest of the show. They came out with Go and not once did they put their foot off the gas pedal.

The shocking thing about Pearl Jam's MIA '12 show was that it was a festival gig. A big outdoor event. And not one audience recording of this show exists in the trading community where Philly is home to the biggest Pearl Jam fan's on the East Coast of the USA. There are many awesome video clips from the show on YouTube so bringing in an recording device shouldn't of been a problem entering the gates.

I remembered hearing a while back that they had technical problems with PJ20. No official bootleg for Mexico '11. Tech problems again. Not sure why MIA '12 or London '13 haven't been released yet. Wrigley '13 I'm guessing there is plans for an Ultimate Collectors Edition Blu-ray Box Set that will comes in a custom Cracker Jack like box. Also on the bottom back cover will have a bottle water with a 1 dollar price tag. ;)

With the exception of them opening with "Go" and playing with Jay-Z, I dont remember a single moment (musically) about the show. Which isn't the worst thing ever. It'll be nice to relive the show with years of retrospective rather than buying the boot two weeks or so after the show.

As for PJ20, I'm totally the opposite. Release that shit and release it soon!

I vaguely remember some of that. Still shocked that there is no audience recording. You put that exact same scenario (PJ headlining a festival in downtown Philly) back in 1995 and there'd be at least three listenable sources. We've all been spoiled over the past 14 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if its never released. They were paid 2 million to perform and have that performance used in his documentary. The film company may have both recorded and own the rights to the material.

Id love to hear it again.. Black and Love, Reign O'er Me were both outstanding.

If that's true, then it makes no sense that they were able to release the 99 Problems track as a single. Also, I highly doubt PJ would allow another business entity to "own" one of their performances.

Lastly even if someone else had the rights to their set that was recorded, why wouldn't they release it themselves to try and make an extra penny? Just doesn't add up.

    Highlights of that show:

    -Full version of W.M.A.
    -Go/Corduroy/Save You/Given to Fly/Elderly Woman first 5 songs.
-Just one of those performances where they weren't messing around. They had one clear goal of coming out and knocking everyone on their ass. They succeeded and then some.
-Mike was on FIRE that night. Ripped his solos on Even Flow, Black, and others.
-Classic, great Philly crowd. Even for a festival gig. I mean, listen to the 99 Problems single. Fans are loud as hell...especially considering it's a majority of PJ fans shouting the lyrics to a Jay-Z song!
-Was your typical 2 hour festival set list, but I enjoyed it that way as it left everyone wanting more. Just a wonderful set that I would love to play for non-PJ fans.

I've always hoped this would end up as a vault. I was on the rail Mike's side. Caught a few picks and also got a pound from Ndamukon Suh as someone mentioned above. I remember a tight, energy packed set. They just came out firing. Black, Unemployable, and a full WMA were highlights. I also remember that during the final minutes of the last song Ed was constantly watching a tech behind Stone since there was a very strict 11PM curfew for the festival. They literally hit their closing notes as the tech signaled to end it and there was big smiles all over the stage.

Here's to an upcoming vault release!

This would make a FANTASTIC Vault release as there are no known audience recordings of this performance & Pearl Jam have never officially released this on CD with Nugs.

Im sure Jay Z owns the audio or the film company
  • I agree that most likely it has to do with someone else owning the rights. Or maybe Jay Z won't let them release 99. But regardless of what the issue is, I am surprised PJ would do a show giving up rights to their music. Lets get Kelly on there phone and ask him.

You gotta wonder how far in the future they plan to go with these sort of things. Seriously/sadly, we only have a finite amount of time on this big, blue planet of ours and I'd hate to "expire" with some gems still in the vault!

Will there be so many "gems" when they have released one show from every tour/lineup?

I mean. Not like the shows are soooo different just because they switch the songs more than most.

I would love a boot for this.

I recall someone next to me who clearly didn't know PJ being blown away by Jeremy, and asking me the song name... and rightfully so, it was a strong performance. Black and Save You also kicked ass that night.
