so lets use charitable work to further political career. How altruistic of him.
Whatever its worth, this cheapens what he is doing. Think I had more respect for Romney on this stuff and the fact religious belief was held to be private.

"She usually requires those who pay her six-figure fees for speeches to also provide a private jet for transportation — only a $39 million, 16-passenger Gulfstream G450 or larger will do."

Surely this jet is a groundbreaking one-of-a-kind hybrid or 100% electric engine....right?

Hillary's uncontested march to the nomination continues to increase the likelihood of a Republican victory in 2016.

I think its a douchebag move to publicize what exactly he is doing. It can be enough to mention he does charitable work and leave it at that.

What I would use to determine whether to vote for or against would be the changing stances and attempts at scrubbing his history on stances.

Wanting to learn more about all this I did some on-line researching and am amazed at how much press is being given already to the 2016 presidential elections. I say, screw that man, I want to focus on 2020 because my motto is "2020, Better vision for the future". ;-)

The guy is running for office. Shaking hands, kissing babies, photo-ops are what they are required to do. Of all things politicians do you shouldn't hold publicizing charity work against them as a flaw. Pearl Jam publicly endorses their own charity work to help spur on its fans to be charitable (so it isn't all bad).

I just think it is a little ridiculous to hold Rand Paul's charity work against him (that just means you hate the guy no matter what he does and is a little like the attitude in Congress at the moment). I can understand if you disagree with him politically.

quite the contrary, I think its a great thing he is using his training to help people. Nor do I hold it against him. In my opinion , since it has been released that that is what he is doing, in my eyes it cheapens the act. So really it isnt charity, its look what I am doing to help the poor in another country, aint I great?

Meanwhile, there are plenty of kids from that same country sitting in detention centers under what some have described as deplorable conditions and I dont recall him coming to their aid. So it comes across as somewhat hypocritical of him.

Somehow I know that if Rand Paul were a Dem simply by changing the R to a D he'd be well loved here.

He fights for individual rights probably more than anyone else, from either party.

Hillary Clinton called for businesses to collaborate with universities to make higher education more affordable in a $225,000 speech Monday night at the annual University of Nevada Las Vegas Foundation dinner.

"Higher education shouldn’t be a privilege for those able to afford it," Clinton told a crowd of approximately 900 people. "It should be an opportunity widely available for anybody with the talent, determination and ambition."

No, seriously, this stuff can't write itself any better.

So? She's a commodity and people pay her. Isn't this the free market that we hold so dear? You know no minimum or maximum wages. :D

On speaking charges, celebrity always gets first class or better transportation and always best hotel room. Have seen many of these contracts.

I wonder if losing the 2016 presidential race will increase or decrease her speaking fee?

You know, I wonder just how much was raised for the UNLV fundraiser she was paid to speak at.

By the way, you've bestowed this "award" to her twice FOR THE SAME EVENT.

The reason for two links is because one was Fox News and I know how everyone here dismisses them.

Yep, the dates are different, great sleuth skills there, and the reason was that was telling a story on how people were upset that this was going to happen. The other showed that she did it anyway. The entire point of this, apparently lost on all here was that she went there complaining on how high the fees are for college educations yet has no problem getting her cut. Maybe she should donate and lead by example, help lower those fees as it were. But I understand how she can't because she's dead broke and all. Times are tough on the clintons.

The op and this latest linking are about the same event. Reported well after the event.

    Whats new here?

After being a resister voter for 45 years I'm growing closer and closer to the point of believing the vast majority of politicians are out of touch. Obama was going to create change. Didn't happen. Jerry Brown was going to pull California our from a nose dive. Ain't happening. I could go on and on but really, after all these years and hearing about and from so many politicians only a few stand out in my memory as truly being in touch. Allan Cranston who put in 24 years of first rate service as California Senator comes to mind. Not many others in the long run. No wonder some of my friends are Thoreau influenced anarchists.

Brian, yes have also realized that presidents priorities change once in office. Also realize that they are somewhat limited to what they can do. And the opposition in house and senate has been fierce at the detriment of the country .

As to Obama think people expected to much. After past administrations he is much better and did try to get things done. Though not perfect he did try to get healthcare to masses. If allowed to continue will be wonderful for the people. He understood equality and repealed DADT and military hasn't fallen apart. He didn't try to mess with Colorado and Washington. And finally and best I think he 's trying to limit our military.

As to environment yeah he didn't do much and the economy is better though turning again though don't give him credit for this. Also don't agree to some of the. $$$$ he 'so doled out.

So is he the Messiah? no and people that use this term are just all out against him no matter what he accomplished. But he sure as he'll better than what we had or could of had.

    Peace

She's not speaking at the school and its not being funded with student fees----she's speaking at the Foundation. Many prominent state schools have private/non-profit foundations associated with them that are involved in philanthropy, often associated with an alumni center. Its private funding and the funds raised are going to HRC's own non-profit foundation too.

The top donor tables at the event cost between $3,000 and $20,000 each. The university says that the UNLV Foundation raised over $350,000 from those donors alone, while an additional $235,000 was raised from a pledge drive held during the dinner, more than recouping the cost of Clinton's speech.

The event she spoke at raised more than double what they paid her. And the speaking fee is expected to go toward the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

To quote Stephen Colbert: "Reality has a well-known liberal bias".

The President doesn't create or kill jobs. It's not like he wakes up and says "You know what? I'm gonna lay off like 20,000 people today."

Mitt Romney, however, did exactly that
