Hijacking this thread a touch, but how about there are two Vault directions.
One set of shows that is earmarked for Annual as a vinyl set, those can be like Vault+
Another set that is disc/download only, that comes out quarterly, obviously in this format, the once annual uber Vault is one of the quarterly, so really we simply get 3 extra a year.
This way, I might be able to hear some of the shows from say fall 1993, spring 1994, the 1995 and 1996 shows before my Last Exit.
I mean, listen we are being offered Halloween shirts and stickers and wristbands and backpacks and whatever else in merch...just give me a smidge more access to the early years. This is not hard. This is not too much too ask. Just a smidge more...
If you are told the next Vault is going to be 1996, but it can't be a US show, which Euro show do you want
Rome 1996, undoubtly. Because it's a great show... and because the available recording sounds like hearing the band while you're locked in a closet about half a mile away with cotton inside your ears. Well, almost.

that is pretty much spot on for how the most widely available audience tape sounds.
Anything 96 that isn't Berlin. Randall's 2 would be great but too long for vault and I want full show
I'm on the same page. It's a little disappointing when the vault drops and it's something that already has a widely circulating soundboard. Would love a No Code show, Berlin's already out there, something new would be great.

I think it is fair to assume at this stage, that any show pre 2000 is very likely to have missing parts due to tape flip issues, malfunctions etc
I don't think it's fair to assume that. They've released several complete shows pre 2000 already
Basically, Brett Eliason has already confirmed this that prior to the 2000 bootleg series, they have gaps in a lot of shows, as has Vault 7, Vault 4, and the inclusions in the boxsets.
Full shows are great, but I have like 300 something, and could have I guess 400 plus, I lost count of how many official live releases there are. I want history from the Vault at this point, even if it has some warts.

That's fair. My point with randall's 2 was more that it is so long they'd need to extend it to 4 LPs at least even with some tape issues.
