(Ed talks about his uncle John and explains why he is wearing the Chicago Bears jersey.  He also notes that the Pearl Jam tour started in Amsterdam and that almost two hundred of the deaths on the plane shot down were people from the Netherlands.  Ed wants them to know that the people of the Netherlands are in his thoughts and that this is just one more reason that we have to stop having wars.)

(“You know if you are anti war, If your anti war it doesn’t mean you are pro one side or the other in a conflict. However it does make you pro many things.” Ed sees something in the audience he likes.  “What have you got here, wow. All right you came to play.  We are not alone after all.  Take this CNN, That’s good, that’s nice, or whomever.  
  Well, so anti war make you pro many things. Pro peace, pro human, pro evolution, Makes you  pro communication, pro diplomacy, pro love, pro understanding, pro forgiveness.  You know some people don’t understand how you can be pro soldier.  If you are anti war your pro soldier because you don’t want the soldier to be put in harms way.  To sacrifice himself or herself for some reason that’s not...for no good reason.  I have many, many...We have many, many friends of the group and through out our lives we’ve met incredible people and in the armed forces.  We have an understanding and they listen our music and they get it so I’m not sure...You know sometimes if you speak out people are going to misunderstand and they take things a certain way or another.  If you don’t speak out you don’t know..If someone doesn’t like it probably means it has some kind of meaning.  It’s not just bullshit.  It’s not just nothing.
  So this next song I always thought it was probably  the most powerful song ever written.  I think it is the most powerful song ever written.  Which is why I have never played it.  It seems like maybe there is a reason to play it.  If you’d like join me or use your voices or hold a light there might be some people out there that need to know they are not alone.”)

Eddie played the guitar and just sang the first words of some of the verses

By the way, during the speech before "Imagine" (an all time premiere!) a big group of fans raised sheets of paper with the words "PEACE" in it and the effect was great. It was "organized" just the day before so for the time available we managed to get a lot of people on board. Eddie noticed and said some words about it.

We debate sometimes whether PJ at a festival is quite as good as there usual gigs. Well, Eddie at a festival looks to be pretty fucking good. Wow what a set list!

Was it "officially" allowed to take videos of the gig? Or was it like at the other EV solo gigs, where no cams where allowed?

It was a festival, no one cared about people filming the gig. Not that it would be even possible for security to enforce a "no filming" rule with +10000 people there.

Man what a show. I can't even find the right words to express how it made me feel.
So glad I decided to go. I loved every single minute of it.
It was not only the awesome setlist but also the words he said, the way he said it and the way the public responded. We were all on the same page, ya know?

I need a bootleg of this show, pleeeaaasseeee!!!!!!

Despite some issues in the organization of the festival, I am grateful to see one more time Eddie alive. He is always welcome. I don't like what I see and I share his concern and sadness. Hope see him again in a better world.
The poster is great, the flowers have a special meaning to me, since I have the same name.
Please consider return to Portugal (or the band), for a concert, not a festival, it safer (and I am getting older).
