I am dieing for new Tool... seeing them from the 2nd row has one made me more eager to see them again.... amazingly different experience sitting in the second row directly in front of danny....

I aw them in Kingston, Ontario and it was GA in front. Totally the way to see them. Couldn't imagine standing still for these guys, hopefully you get the chance next tour.

I'm hoping the patience pays off and wonder if this is a bit of a ruse and they'll be announcing something shortly. Then again, I've said that about every time Tool has popped into the news The last several years.

Surprised that anybody thinks that 10k Days was their peak or even remotely as good as Aenima or Lateralus. Not a horrible album, by any stretch, just doesn't feel quite as inspired or seem like a full cohesive piece to me.

Always loved the way the vocals sit in the mix. Maynard, along with every other member sorta stands out when it's necessary, but otherwise there aren't many examples of bad mixing in their entire catalog. One of the benefits of being a 4 piece band, I suppose.

First time crowd surfing. Don't remember the year but it was at the old Molson park in Barrie Ontario. Surfed my way to the rail, Good times.

I like Lateralus more as an album than 10,000 Days, but Jambi blows my mind every time I listen to it.

Just to shed some light on Tool's next album...

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/tool-explain-why-they-havent-put-out-a-new-album-since-2006-20140715

    At least they are trying!

so, on that last tour, I ponied up for one of the VIP tickets with the meet and greet with Adam Jones.... worth every penny, but anyway...

He never hinted at a lawsuit regarding artwork, however, he did talk somewhat at length about the "digital download" aspect of their law suit with the record company.

According to Mr. Jones, Tool is still on it's original record contract from 1991... they signed a 5 album deal, and they have been in quite a legal battle with the record company over who will own digital sales (notice you cannot purchase Tool on iTunes), as it was not defined in the original contact....

I gotta think that is effecting the latest release of material also...

That being said, I also have a sneaking suspension when the 5th and final album of the contract comes out, shortly after we'll see the floodgates open. When Adam was describing their their writing process, it became clear that they literally must have thousands of hours of recorded music that is sitting around somewhere partially finished....

100%! Had front row back in meadowlands jersey years ago, stood there watching Danny the whole nite whale on his kit. Fucken amazing band, no bad seat in the house!

Edit- oh and the tix cost me $85 back then from a second hand market! Oh the days of front row for under $100!

I've said it for 15 years, Sober is the best (non pearl jam) song to come out of the 90's.

You ever listen to Aenima? That whole album is better than Sober, IMHO.

Along with the rest of Undertow. I find Sober bland and formulaic, and even compared to Tool's more conventional songs just isn't all that great.
  • I'll chime in too.

Each to their own... but Sober ranks around #45-55 for me in the Tool catalogue.

  • And by the way... I joined the Tool Army a little while back and I have found that to be a waste of money.

Sober finished in 4th place in the 2011 Tool Madness bracket. I'll never get over that last second jump shot Sober put up to beat Undertow.

That was more exciting to look at than an NCAA bracket! Pushit going out early would have been my bracket buster and how was 10000 Days a 10 seed? A deserving champion in the end with lateralus.

    What a great fucking band.

What a run for Third Eye. A championship appearance as a 10th seed? Wow.

Hahahaha me too and I have a super low number! Talk about a boner going to waste!!!! =))

During the 10,000 days tour I picked up a couple of shows from the fan club. When the tour got to holmdel, nj (home show for me) I was psyched. Got to the venue, seats were not what I expected. Around 20 rows back dead center. I know that's not bad but for me, I'd rather see the band on stage then to look at the visuals. Idk, that's just me. But here's the kicker. My gf got 5 row to the left of the stage from the fan club, that she joined 3 months before the tour! I was pissed. The guy next to me had an even lower number then me but said the band considers these seats as prime for visuals and blah blah blah. Whatever, but ya, the fan club is a complete waste. And if you've seen tool enough times, you'd get a kick out of the crew looking for groupies all show long. EVERY SHOW I go to I see the same guy walking around looking for victims, funny shit!

I still haven't received my sweatshirt… It's been 5 months now and 3 emails… Not happy is an understatement.

The site is pretty awful to navigate too. Can't send messages. If somebody has some insight there let me know please. I almost think that TOOL planned it this way and that a "fan" will try harder.

F that. I know all the notes and lyrics but don't have time to unlock the "unconscious"…

On a good note I would LOVE to see them and hear No Quarter, Right in Two and Rosetta Stoned, the latter being one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Really listen and you'll get it.
  • If I had the time, I'd tell of a story where they pre-charged my visa for about 80 signed Opiate reissues.

Trust me when I say that led to some stress.

I love their music though and love their shows. I still love the River's Edge show in St. Paul when the first part of the show was in the last part of daylight- a completely different type of Tool show with no lights or visuals.
