Well...what the hell? (I say to myself as I post this)
I watched for years as the Minnesota "Faithfull" made their respective pleas for their show...and they got it (rightfully so). So, I have decided to throw West Virginia's (Charleston) hat into the ring for a show. Doesn't have to be in 2014...or 2015...or 2016...or 2017...but one of these days I'd really like to see Pearl Jam grace my home state with their presence. I'm sure I'm not alone...maybe I am...hell, I don't know. Regardless, it is time for West Virginia to lose its Pearl Jam virginity! I thought I'd try to get that ball rolling...
The Charleston Civic Center is comparable in size to iWireless (Moline) and John Paul Jones Arena (Charlottesville) with an approximate capacity of 13,500+/-...Charleston is a crossroads of sorts, accessible from many larger market cities in all directions with Interstate 64, Interstate 77, and Interstate 79 (and US 35, US 60, and US 119) intersecting the city (an easy drive from Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Lexington, Louisville, Knoxville, Nashville, Charlotte, Richmond, DC, Pittsburgh, Detroit, etc.)...There is a small, but accessible airport (Yeager - CRW)...The downtown area is littered with a wide variety of hotels and restaurants/pubs/brewery/bars...Parking can be hit or miss at times (but where isn't that the case?)...And so on... All things considered, it seems to me like Charleston would be a pretty nice "Small Town" stop for Pearl Jam on an upcoming tour (assuming that there will be more to come).
There you have it...Charleston, West Virginia, as a possible tour stop for Pearl Jam in the future. While I doubt that this post will generate the 200+ pages of bumps and comments that Minnesota did I figured I'd give it a go... I know this is speculative and possibly wishful thinking at this point in time...nevertheless, are there any "locals" (not just West Virginians) with me on this?
Thanks for hearing me out.
One more thing...I'd like to put a plug in for Charleston Municipal Auditorium if and when Eddie does another solo tour. It is a pretty intimate venue with great sound.
